Meetings at the Crossroads

The intense planetary activity that is unfolding through the current Scorpio lunation is preparing the ground for ‘reset’ on November 25th when a partial Solar Eclipse at 3º Sagittarius ushers in a new lunation and re-appraisal of our goals for the year ahead. The Sagittarius lunation will bring out a more philosophical tone in which the depth work of the past month will begin to deliver its benefits, its true value become more apparent.

The Scorpio lunation has been strong and revealing, sometimes quite unexpectedly so. As some have reported it feels like the Samhain doorway has been left open, but, it has also been difficult to avoid the visceral impact of world events upon our deeper connections with Life. Where we have been collectively mislead and ‘going wrong’ is well and truly in the public spotlight and, although there is much resistance to change still being shown in the political and social arenas, this has very much been in keeping with the times and the greater processes that are unfolding within them. At heart we are all engaged in collective soul-work, whether we should choose to acknowledge it and go there, or not…….

For those who do make this choice, this is the clear mandate for creating a better future for our home planet, and this is open to us all on an individual level – in fact, our collective future as a species must surely depend upon how we engage with this work in personal terms. Scorpio thoroughness in the scouring and clearing of our hearts and minds supports a deeper appreciation of the soul’s purpose. The following Sagittarian lunation, leading up to the December Solstice, builds upon this with planetary and cosmological focus on a renewal of the soul’s contract with Life. Within the coming lunation a total Lunar Eclipse on December 10th anchors this renewed contract within the field for the next six months.

One crucial step at a time we are laying the foundations for our future and the name of the game, as if we haven’t already realised, is ‘Change’ – as the political and economic rhetoric shows not everyone, it seems, wants to play, or play fairly. Change, however, is taking over, and a tough stance against it will no longer prevail. And, well, as the saying goes, ‘when the going gets tough…….’ – in a planetary climate dominated by Uranus square Pluto that can mean just about anything when it is Change itself that is in charge! Popular movements against the resistance of the old guard could well give way to any number of means of guerilla warfare. This does not have to mean physical confrontation, however. Many engaging with the ongoing financial fall-out are indeed now withdrawing their personal funds from the banks and investing them in, for example, credit unions. Adaptablility will prove the tactical advantage, for now – its the longer term strategies that will count most and the field upon which these battles are fought will continue to spread. It’s been said here before, but, how well prepared we are really matters…..each step counts.

In times of global change, whose far-reaching implications and crucial impact take on global, if not cosmological proportions, the vision embodied within the scope of every one of our personal contracts with Life is also infused, beyond personal choice, with archetypal energy and influence. Alignment with a greater purpose is key and this is one of the defining characteristics of the Sagittarian lunation – it is also an essential strategy. Short-termism, which has been the bane of our cultural outlook, must be replaced with forward looking wisdom. The importance of the Scorpio process of the current outgoing lunation is revealed in this – revelation, acknowledgement and reformation of deeper emotional and psychological awareness funds us with the clarity that allows the new soul perspective to come into view. Through this the hologram of the individual soul, the spirit having a human experience, can experience its own intrinsic resonance within the greater hologram, the bigger picture, and the larger tides and forces of the times, the archetypal undercurrents of the zeitgeist, can be discerned as ‘the flow of the great river within which our spirit is swimming’.

As the I Ching reminded us of in hexagram Wei Chi with the image of the little fox crossing the great river, we must see the process through before we can arrive at the new vision. As the wit and whits of Douglas Adams pointed out to us in ‘Blind Bats with Spaghetti Soup….’, asking the right questions, that is to say, having the right motivation, is crucial to finding greater meaning that is in tune with this vision. And, as Coyotes journey to the shadowlands echoed Orpheus journey to the underworld, our own personal journey is brought to fulfillment when we are able to overcome our impulsive desires and trust to the process. This must spell an end to ego driven consumerism as the basis for our culture. In all cases, whether we are navigating the strong cross-currents of change, allowing the unknown to call us, or taking heed of Death as our advisor, learning intrinsic life lessons, the heroic journey of our personal life quest is empowered with profound and far-reaching illumination when we align our spirits with Nature and her greater cycles, our selves with the wisdom of Life. We can be re-assured, the planetary matrix is supporting us in this…..

In the run-up to the solar eclipse on the 25th the planets are supporting us with a mixture of subtle and strong apsects that will enable us to flow with the great river and arrive at the other shore, whole and forward looking. Mars has recently entered tropical Virgo bringing a boost of energy to our healing and envisioning. Currently opposite both Chiron and Neptune, Mars activates an inclusive clarity and attention to detail that will assist us right through until the end of the coming eclipses field of influence – Mars will remain in Virgo until mid 2012 and this time will include a retrograde period in which we can do a double check on how our plans are unfolding in the first quarter of the year. With this strong focus no stone must be left unturned, no hidden clauses within our soul’s contract allowed to undermine our progress – this is an imperative energy at work which serves us and the ‘greater good’ when we work with it. It may bring small and persistant doubts that cut across our confidence, but, with open communication and honesty we can use this time well for clearing out the detritus of the past (keeping our tails out of the mud!) and opening to the new world of possibilities onto whose shores we are and will be arriving. Each working according to our own ways and means, this is very much about ‘walking our talk’. More on this as the new year unfolds…….

Much closer to home, shortly after the total lunar eclipse on December 10th, Mars, in forward motion, will square the Moons Nodes. Further highlighting the importance of the collective soul path, this T square will bring out the grounded reality of that path as each of us experience it. It could be a particularly important time for dealing with all matters that throw up a contrast between restrictions on our personal liberty and the collective vision we hold for the future, particularly as they relate to the re-ensoulment of our human presence on Earth, the re-enchantment of our lives. The tightening opposition between Saturn in late Libra and Jupiter in early Taurus will bring this to a head not long after the solstice and, funded through beneficial aspects to Chiron and Neptune, this will signal a sea-change for how we deal with any conflicts arising where this contrast prevails. The new moon on December 24th, within orb of Pluto, will signal Jupiter’s forward motion and the solstice energy will be very strongly boosted by this. Once again, the ongoing process has the feel of hightening significance, but, with many beneficial aspects surrounding this years solstice we can look forward to a new year with all the inspiration and passion that our renewed soul’s contract and plans for the year ahead fuel us with. For now though, the better to engage with this process, it is to the Moon’s Nodes and the current transits involving them that our gaze must turn…….

The nodes are currently transiting the mid-degrees of Sagittarius and Gemini, and, at the time of writing, the North Node is in precise alignment with an intergalactic phenomenon known as the Great Attractor. This is an important influence for how we work on the vision that our soul work is centered around. This influence also bridges the current and following lunation right through solstice; it is as if we are being overseen by a far greater mind than our earthbound consciousness allows us to be aware of, a presence that is initiating us into the new paradigm at a subliminal level – so, what is the G A and what does its influence mean?!

In recent times astronomers and cosmologists have discovered that there is a great river of galaxies flowing across the universe. If this sounds like poetic license of on a cosmic scale, think again, this is very real! The source of the directed flow of this river, the Great Attractor, is a mysterious phenomenon of immense proportions and our galaxy, amongst many hundreds, is moving as one, its stars amongst hundreds of billions speeding towards this mystery at a velocity of 600 km/sec. – it truly is an immense river of light particles in which each particle is a star. What we know about this phenomenon is very limited, but, at 250 million light years distance from our galaxy we can be sure that its influence is super-galactic, focused and powerful – contemplating these factors brings the vastness of our cosmos into mind expanding perspective! Here is our first clue….

The Great Attractor’s name reflects the directed way in which this galaxy and its neighbours are uniformly moving towards its center. But, there is also a provocative energy attached to this name and astrologers have speculated on its meaning bringing ideas to the G A that imply irresistability and inevitability. Philip Sedgwick’s site (see sidebar) contains some useful info about the G A and how it can be worked with, or, what to expect once our attention is grabbed by it…..for the G A also has a magnetic quality whose symbolism matches the ‘gravitational’ pull of the physical phenomenon. The G A bends light through gravitational lensing to such an extent that it is possible to see behind it, as if we are given the glimpse of something hidden, beyond the normal range of our senses. Here is a second clue……

The Great Attractor was discovered in the 1970’s but it was not until 1986 that its position was measured and in yr 2000 the G A was found to be at 14º02’ Sagittarius within the geo-centric tropical zodiac. What makes this especially interesting for us now is that the Moons North Node has been transiting the middle degrees of Sagittarius and slowly coming into alignment with the G A over the last few months, an alignment that happens every 18 years or so. However, this is made exquisitely rare this time around as Venus and Mercury, the G A and the North Node will all become conjunct together in alignment on 13th/14th November…

…..although carrying what might remain a powerful but otherwise unnoticed and otherworldly subtlety, the meeting of Venus and Mercury at this cosmic crossroads not only brings to the conjunction an elevated rarity, it carries sublime influence at this time and seeds the souls field with all the potential we carry, that we have earned insight into through our inner work over this lunation. But, there is more – the conjunction and ongoing influence comes in at the beginning of a Mercury retrograde period and so, not only precedes the two eclipses, but, focuses our attention on and infuses it with the G A’s influence, and, remember, eclipses offer us an opportunity to hit the reset button on our lives. With the Great Attractors ability to expand our vision and see beyond what is known to us this can be a time for great envisioning at a soul level……there can be powerful and uncanny effects to this.

We may be taken with compulsive knowing that simply has to be followed, even if we are not able to reason this out, simply because we feel it within our souls. With Mars square to the nodes this could bring a major shift akin to a tipping point or critical mass, that aligns soul energy with archetypal energy on a collective scale – for some this will be the signal of a first wave of manifest co-creative activism, but, its subtley may pass you by if your attention is too distracted by emotional reactions to earthly concerns. What can really serve us best in this time is regular quiet time for centered inward focusing, meditation and clearing of the heavy and gross energies from our energy field – a good balance to this is free-form creative expression, just letting the ‘creative river’ flow through and around us. Both will work best when centered in and infused with deep heart energy. This energy flows from the heart of the mystery manifest in the point of singularity within every point in the manifold matrix of the multiverse, and we can source it within our hearts, our inner balance point.

An astonishing feature of alignment with the G A along its axis is the manifestation of the Einstein Cross. Gravitational lensing produces four images around its center of the hidden light sources behind it – bringing an equal armed cross, a medicine wheel, of the unseen into view. An image of balance and centered manifestation, this is powerful medicine from a deep source. And, there’s yet more…..

There is also an opening up of the archetypal field from within here that can manifest as synchronicities, meaningful co-incidences, in which we find strong correspondences between our outer and inner worlds. This can only be good – for bolstering our confidence in Life and re-enchanting our lives with numinous presence, synchronous reality confirms the living intelligence and loving nature of all Life. The path with a heart that tells us we are on the right track, walking our ‘medicine way’….

Through this special time we can make strong medicine work of all that we do. The spiritual warrior at work, ’……the tough get going’! There is a powerful resonance within this symbol, the Rainbow Warrior, when we work with the G A. The singularity at the heart of the Great Attractor is a mystery and yet……

What we do know about the Great Attractor is primarily down to scientifically measurable effects, most notable amongst which is the way in which it bends light. Its gravitational lensing is far more powerful than any other single source known to us within the physical universe. Interestingly, one might expect there to be a super-massive black hole at its center, but, this is not the case as astrophysicists have established that there is no event horizon associated with the G A. While it is an anomolous mystery, we also know that it radiates and connects across the entire spectrum of energy……

The many awakened souls now bringing their focus to bear upon the global changes we are now collectively involved in can step up a gear through this time and utilise the cosmological forces and influences coming into our solar system and inner cosmos to activate a catalystic wave of transformative co-creative energy into embodiment. The individual soul path we choose can be brought into alignment with this activation, become an expression of it. When the eclipse of the 25th November closes the Scorpio lunation and opens the Sagittarian we can initiate a meaningful path for our selves to follow that is in alignment with the most heartfelt and significant vision that we have within. Collectively, the field will reflect this back to us with the December lunar eclipse and we can increasingly speak our truth with the great power of self authority in the world. When the December solstice arrives we will be ready to walk our talk having set a clear purpose and bring to the light the power of our personal vision for the coming year, born from the heart of creation, the Great Mystery, and watch it grow as the year unfolds……

Our small blue planet, so beloved by, and of such intense interest now both to us and the cosmological community at this time, is asking for us to bring the fearless power of Love home with pragmatic impact. At the meeting at the cross-roads, THIS IS OUR TIME………are you ready……..

The Wind on the Mountain

The first New Moon after the Equinox arrives just as the Earth is clothed equally in day and night. The light is rapidly sinking in the North and energetically rising in the South. Everything is in motion; the geese are beginning to fly, the wind rising on the mountain speaks of transformation, and on Earth we watch as the Moon comes into alignment with the Sun in the sign of justice, balance, relationships and ‘the other’. Looking out upon the world we can see the energy rising through the lens of the cosmos in tune with the times.

At the crossing point in time and the seasons it is time to take stock. The polarities of light and darkness, growth and decay, are in dynamic equilibrium all around us. In the wider context the times offer us opportunity, as, in bringing attention to the pivotal point around which division swings, we can also choose to work towards bringing an end to all that keeps us divided. The New Moon amplifies the energy, brings it to a needs/must status – we can perhaps sense a tension rising, the balance point is loaded with potential, flashpoint uncertainty…..releasing the tension, with vision and foresight, is a great challenge. Being caught up in the energy of change, having the ability and courage to persist in the midst of immense challenges, let alone look to the future, will push us to the limits of our resourcefulness. Perhaps this will be the crucial fact of our coming experiences that will decide for us how we persist, the nature of the vision we are able to manifest in visceral reality. But, before we consider the implications on the ground, first, it would be wise to get in tune with nature.

Earth Mother speaks to us both through the falling fruits, coming to ripeness, leaves flying in the wind, and the emerging shoots, vigorous with promise, bursting buds, tender in their blossoming – death and birth dancing together in our One World…..

…….from the northern perspective She asks us to awaken our sense of Value as we appraise the harvested fruits of our labours and identify those most fertile with seeds, those that will carry us through the dark time and those that will bring energy and sustainence that will help us stay healthy and bring the warm glow of the dream-time to our wintering hearts – these are the precious seeds of our imagination and inner vision…..

……from the southern perspective  our values can help us identify the new growth, the sprouting life force taking shape, caring for those that need protection, that need feeding and planting out, the healthiness of the seeds that have sprouted within our dreamings, to which we will give most attention in the coming growing time as they unfold their stories, testing themselves out in the world.

If we were to look into the cosmobiological world, the dominant impulse, seismic and volcanic, the global climate and solar activity tell us we are in the Southern half of the cycle – Earth is awakening, pushing the physical boundaries as the life force increases with pulses from the source – the Sun becoming newly activated and seeding the magneto-sphere is driving the weather and charging Earth’s nervous system. The hemispheres hold the balance…….all is dancing together, to the tune of Change…..this dance, however, has the accelerating rhythm of a dance going wild……

In both our gathering and our sowing ‘Care’ and ‘Vigilance’ are our watch-words as we encounter the unpredictable weather of the autumn and spring. In the human world, where we predominantly base our decisions on factors independant of nature, we are at a forward looking moment of choices – and the times have a flavour that says our future remains in the balance, undecided – we can go either way. So, looking to our resources, the better to make informed decisions, has  a crucial edge of destiny about it at this time.

Just four days after equinox a New Moon in Libra brings a re-defining influence to the energetic shift in the seasons. The decisions we take now will be carried forward over the next month through the lens of the Libran Moon. What we decide now will also carry us through to the Solstice – it is a propitious time!

If we were to look into the human world, the dominant weather, our politics and economic climate would tell us that we are in the Northern half of the cycle – and, perhaps our evaluation would have us throwing out most of ‘the harvest’ – so much of it has become rotten to the core, its life force corrupted. War strips us of the very means with which we can stop the rot……increasingly we can see, the people are awake and know that only through waging war on War itself and the divisive infra-structures that support it can we bring justice to bear. We will see how Mars and Pluto are at work in this.

There is an air of rising realism, at odds with the illusions spun to keep our collective power yoked. Uranus is making strong connections here too, not least of all with Mars. The blinkers are off, and soon enough, at each emergent trigger point, the restraints will come off too – Wall Street is the latest in an increasing pattern of unpredictable flashpoint demonstration of the public will and  anger. This is bringing the whole question of resources to the frontline of action……it is not through violence that the voice of the people will be heard, this will fuel only more deeply entrenched division. Intelligent use of resources is supported through awareness and open distribution, communication and fostering integrity – anger is natural when these are denied. Uranus gives us access to the higher mind, Mars brings a crucial sense of realism that will not be denied. 

Our emphasis here is on the higher vibration. A powerful upswelling of Earth changes is very much a part of this process…….at this New Moon Venus, ahead of the Sun and Moon in Libra, gains an uplifting energy from Jupiter retrograde in Taurus. Venus rules both Libra and Taurus, but, here she transits within the constellation of the Crow – in keeping to the higher manifestation look out for deceptions and scornful trickery around resources. Be aware of false promises. Sacred Law will guide us. We must be prepared to defend ourselves against usery.

Our inner resources gain great strength when we connect with Jupiter’s inner expansion of wisdom, of elevated awareness, and this in turn can bring a deeper meaning to Venus’ heart centered infusion of love into our relationships. She is on her way to meet with Saturn soon after New Moon – this will help us ground the Earth centered values she is bringing. Saturnian maturity will help us fully incarnate those values and seed our vision for the future……so much rests upon us manifesting this through our collective power as an agent for change.

In the Equinox template Sun began entering into opposition with Uranus in Aries opening the collective mind with a drive for originality and freedom. Over the coming months we can utlise this energy in breaking the mould of habitual thought through opening to insights and realisations about our collective potential. Mars in Leo trines Uranus and sextiles the Sun bringing original creative power to all that we seek to embody – and, at equinox, Mars was also conjunct the Moon. Collectively, we the people are becoming fired up, finding voice.

Mars will continue to feed this doubly fiery energy into our creative endeavours for change as at New Moon he moves into exact quincunx to Pluto in Capricorn. Here is the push for realism. Systemic change within our Earth field will begin to reach down to the roots and the signs are already there…….they hardly need re-iterating. How we work with these combined influences is key. Watch the financial turmoil increase, but, don’t get sucked into the inevitable ‘spin’ that it will generate……the mesmerising culture of consumerism is dieing, and despite the insidious inroads it has made into our psyches,  its influence is increasingly waning on how we connect with our own deepest personal values, gifts and power. We know these have a better purpose….take care of them and be patiently alert. We would do well to be patient, as an elder would be, and hold back superficial and reactionary judgement by keeping the bigger picture in mind. There is much work to be done within the initiation zone. A shot of Heron medicine will also serve us well here…..

We need to be able to spot the moment when we are called to manifest the flashing energy of Uranus, as it happens, and really feel the power surging from source – we can experience ecstatic joy in our creativity, if we are open to it. The more we quiet our minds and reside in our hearts, the more this will be available to work with and we can grasp ‘the flash of opportunity’ beneath the surface, no matter how clouded the waters become with sudden change. Neptune can symbolise this clouding, but, Mars, Uranus and Pluto will have none of it!

A healing vision for our planet is at work behind this – staying with the higher vibration, Chiron brings the healing waters of Pisces into our New Moon, deep waters that cleanse our world of the wounds of the past, and Neptune in Aquarius, still in partnership with Chiron, brings the connectivity of higher consciousness into the healing process. This is available for our emergence, beyond the competitive mindset, into one of co-operation. Neptune atomises the energy and spreads it through each of us, as fractals of the whole containing the hologram of  wholeness. This influence is present at Equinox and holds.

At equinox, making this all the more powerful and underpinning our creative responses to bring a thorough and realistic clearing, Chiron’s and Neptune’s combined energies have become amplified with Pluto’s unstoppable alchemy of transformation – a great push for total change in how we express our collective power as an achievable goal that heals our collective mind. Again, they feed back to Mars.

The signs suggest that we are ready to work hard to realise this visionary process,  embodying the shamanic paradigm, through our own spiritual alchemy – the Sun recieves this transformative impulse through sextile with Mars and the Moon feeding into the equinox template. Pluto sextile Neptune and Chiron combine in a yod to feed their impulse through Mars and the Moon. When such deeply transformative potential impulses the energised emotional body of the people revolutionary power can course through us – we need to ground this power and let it flow. We can ground it with holistic creativity when we let it flow through our hearts. It will fund us with courage. With courage we begin to grow in confidence and the energised emotional body in turn expands our connections – we get a picture of ourselves within humanity expressing the interrelated polyrythmic nature of the dance. It’s polyrythms tell us it is multi-dimensional, working at many levels in unison. Entering the shamanic state in full consciousness of integration within the matrix of Life initiates us into the shamanic paradigm – if we are truly to become co-creative we must be able to go there. We will come back to this in a moment…..

Courage inspires and helps us raise our consciousness. Sun sextile Mars and Moon at equinox form a second yod back to Chiron and Neptune that manifests a feedback loop for our healing vision – at first we will feel it, then through the New Moon matrix we will learn how to manifest it. Mercury is also at work here and can augment Chiron and Neptune’s influence in ways that will help us raise our consciousness, working with shamanic awareness and dexterity as a part of this process. Intentionally working in this way, now is a good time to utilise the potential here – trust as you do that you will be connecting with others in natural co-operation. Spiritual symbiosis.  Tending to our own soul path enables us to work together without having to even think about it, but, doing so together strengthens the energy – 10 Billion Beats is a prime example and the energy of the drumming will continue to reverberate through our individual work for many months.

We would do well to begin thinking of ourselves as a global community, a village with a strong heart – I would recommend choosing this time to make earth healing rituals, building an earth shrine or altar, as the symbolic heart of the global village and feeding it with inspirational beauty as gifts and offerings to the spirits. Both spring and autumn fund us with immense richness and beauty so our offerings can really speak to the spirits; ask them for guidance and personal healing that will aid you in the coming months….this will pay great dividends, for us all. These sacred focii will serve us in the coming months too; a golden bees wax candle dedicated to the earth-heart and lit in a central place will bring a strong sense of beauty to our home. Remembering all who struggle to find food and shelter can strengthen our bonds and help us maintain a balanced perspective. There is great support in this from the planetary matrix. But, we are also a part of a much larger community……

Mercury in Virgo at Equinox quincunx Neptune – at New Moon, Mercury catches up with the Sun in Libra and this becomes a tight quincunx to Chiron from Mercury conjunct Sun and Moon. The complex dance plays out in quick-time with Mercury’s advance through this period – it is a window of potent opportunity for entraining with Galactic energy – equinoxial Mercury squares the Galactic center. Sun is fueling our Earth changes, recieving the electric impulses of new energy from the Galactic Center. Watch the uptick in solar activity seeding the Earth matrix. At Equinox the visionary charge of healing energy coming through Mercury’s quincunx with Chiron and Neptune seeds the template with intelligent creativity that compliments the Sun Uranus opposition at New Moon. Uranus opposition with the Sun tightens to exact as the New Moon comes into manifestation. Altogether, with Pluto also coming into a square with the New Moon, this potential can be released with ongoing intensity through the next three months. We can really make our otherworldly connections count now. Sacred Law founded in the heart will teach us how.

Saturn in Libra sextiled the North Node of the Moon in Sagittarius at Equinox – natural balance in accordance with Sacred Law is the basis of our soul journey. Collectively, we can bring a powerful understanding of our responsibility towards the future through grounding our role as guardians of the Earth Garden, a role, we know, enshrining and embodying Sacred Law. Cosmobiological awareness is the way to bring it into consciousness. With Jupiter in trine with Venus at Equinox the goddess energies can help us in turning with the tide, pulling us closer together, uniting us with Her great heart.

At New Moon Venus approaches conjunction with Saturn and sextile with the North Node. Our journey into wisdom as an expression of Sacred Law within the heart. With diligence towards our inner wealth and we can forge the diamond body of indestructible compassion through time……the cosmobiological heart of the Earth Mother coming alive within, helping us to manifest a better world into being, and from this our journey towards Solstice will unfold……but, this is a gradual process, one that needs a steady foundation, that flows with the shifting balance of the seasons.

While care and vigilance are the key words as we enter the new seasonal zone, the Libran Moon is upping the stakes. The driver here is ‘the Unexpected’, powerful influences manifesting through events that exacerbate breakdown and push growth in change to new levels – overall, with this Moon cycle a rising groundswell of transfigurative potential is emergent. The planetary configuration shows a hightened possibility that world events will become cumulative, pushing the agenda for transformation. This is a great test for humanity. We are also, it seems, entering into a zone that speaks of ‘instant Karma’.

This will signal a change in focus, an intensifying of awareness. What is wise within us must now come to the fore. It is a good time to strengthen our bonds with each other, to make our connections truthfull and grounded. For all the apparent complexities at work, this is an inspirational matrix of energy, with centeredness, eldership and realism at its heart. The planetary matrix is calling for serious assessment of what will serve each of us best – a pragmatic stock-take of our personal resources will help us ground and stay earthed, both individually and collectively. Alignment with the seasons brings balance and meaning to all our endeavours.

Awareness is a resource of great power. We need to be watchfull and look out for each other. Rising tension between the power of nature and the force for containment asks us to get real. There will be a tendency for those resisting change and ‘keeping their heads in the sand’ to have their personal agendas sidelined, and this applies as much to the political arena and economics as it does to individuals who hold power within those fields. The dogmatism of the older generations must give way to the embodiment of the Elder, even as it emerges amongst the young. And emerge it will, with our care, vigilance and realism. For all the opportunistic rioting and looting that systemic breakdown catalyses, beneath and behind it is a disquiet that ‘knows’ – the challenge of initiation is to connect with this knowing. This is an important time as the way will open for those whose fore-sight and broader vision is based on Natural Law and innate wisdom to step up to the plate.

The first lunation of the new equinox season will help us decide where we stand within the midst of accelerating change……

As intense as the winds of change may become, the as yet untapped resources of humanity are given planetary support so that we can now considerably increase our capacity to meet them with equanimity. We know that we have a great resource within. Together, each of us holding to the center and expanding our heart energies can generate a protective field of fully conscious and fierce compassion – the mountain is our symbol……but, we must let ourselves go into the dance and let its power flow through us for this to happen….the mountains too will have their dance….

We have reached the crossing point. Beyond is the pull of a vision that can ingite our collective soul; paradoxically, gaining access to it through manifesting it……it will take time, but, time itself is changing. When we are able to realise our role as Guardians of the Earth garden, our inner radiance will pervade the earth plane and experiencing time will become ever present access to the whole…..

Hold to the center. Owlmirror advocates giving voice and form to visionary potential as it comes through,  but, it takes more than one voice to encompass the whole, so, have courage and let your voice be heard. This vision, for all its cosmobiological implications, is simply a choice within our humanity…….

The catabolic release of energy that the entropic half of the dance will manifest, as the old balance of power is naturally dismantled, will also fund us with an anabolic empowerment to bring our creative powers into new forms. The vision can be realised. But, it is intrinsic to its realisation that we be discerning and careful not to polarise, to split humanity further. Honouring difference heals division. Healing means making whole. Embracing the whole, light and dark, is the real challenge for our unity. Earth’s equinox seen through the lens of the Libran Moon.

And, it should be said, that regardless of the apparent grandiose nature of such a vision, there is little room for idealism here, we are working with what is, as is, in new ways. Many who feel that the completion of the Mayan Calendar signals our entry into a new consciousness may find that the challenges continue to arise as they have done over the millenia, as they did for our fore-bears. And, as our ancestors knew, the present holds the key to healing all time. They too made mistakes – can we learn? Everything is happening with a purpose, only, be careful of  apocalyptic prophecy, as well as the idea of a day of revelation – for all the portents, they also carry the overtones of the old paradigm that is dieing off…….if the cosmobiological vision holds any weight, emergence from material fundamentalism into gnosis within the living multiverse tell us that fear and denial do not belong to our future….the indigenous prophecies are very down to earth and pragmatic in this respect.

Small steps make a great journey possible, each step at their own time, as the moment requires……our resources are great, our technology ancient and evolving, bringing us to spiritual communion within the animate multiverse – sentient cosmobiological realisation.

 The technological skills we have built up can, if we choose, support this, but, science is not everything and this too is on the verge of great change – the fusion of science with compassionate living born within indigenous Earth wisdom promises much. Would any scientist dare embrace the shamanic vision without it…..a rhetorical question. The electric universe connects us all in the Now.  

Even though we may be reaching for the stars Earth is the Life giver through whom we can truly come to know them and, despite the youthful rebelliousness with which  science also disregards this fact, once we recognise how deep Her love for us is we may also just discover that she holds our deepest memories within her heart. The Earth Garden is the living memory of our stellar origins. Youthful energy becomes mature through the challenges within the initiatic rites. For all the challenges we face on Earth now, this is a golden moment in our evolution….

If at this time we were to view ourselves as a global village we would see that half of the village is being guided by Earth to begin bringing the nurturing of our dreaming bodies to the fore, while the other half is being guided by Earth to begin feeding our creative energies into manifestation through our physical plane. When our creative energies flow from the heart, as artisans of the sacred, we know that these two halves are not seperate, that we never entirely cease from either outer or inner focus working together in manifestation – the two are aspects of one movement, forever in active balance. The times are most propitious now, however, for us to capitalise on all the work we each have done and collectively begun to realise, so that we can also increase our working as one village, with awareness, in ways that manifest this as a single and unified process. The collective spiritual alchemy of humanity is the vehicle through which cosmobiological unity with Earth can be realised. While gradual development along this path is the given theme for this Equinox…….how we can achieve and maintain our sustained development and navigate the path through initiation depends very much on our ability to ride the winds of change.

The symbols in this post have come from several readings. The astrological symbolism for the New Moon and Equinox are sourced in the tropical zodiac, the signs, the planetary positions and the Sabian Symbols attached to these, as well as the energy that connects them as expressed through aspects. For the Equinox the I Ching was cast using three different translations for interpretation, Stephen Karcher’s of 2002, Thomas Cleary’s of 1986 and Richard Wilhelm’s of 1950 – the image arising was hexagram 53 Chien, Gradual Progress with two moving lines, 2 & 5, giving rise to hexagram 18 Ku, Corruption/Renovation. Amazingly, the relationship between these two hexagrams exactly mirror the equinoxial shift. A further reading for the cosmobiological aspects of the article was made using a method of Cowrie Shell divination originating in West Africa – this method has been transposed into a new form, incorporating and integrating western indigenous techniques, and will be one of the forms of divination Owlmirror will be writing about over the coming year. Further material was sourced through spirit journeying and ancestral divination, both of which will also be brought into our exploration of divination practices and techniques through the year ahead.

10 Billion Beats of the Heart

Well, a year has passed since we gathered to create a synchronous wave of vibration around our home planet and the 10 Billion Beats call is going out once more to pick up the beat and drum! Last year on the 16th of September Carlisle Bergquist and the 10BBs crew rallied us to participate in a sonorous global shift for realising heart centered healing through our drums – 16th through 17th September 2011 is our date for renewing the wave – follow this link to get the full details.

Drumming is ‘energy work’, working with the power of vibration and rhythm – we can change the state of things, as well as our consciousness, through this medium, and what we can achieve now is unprecedented. We are greater in numbers and the message that 10BBs is supporting is growing and spreading. We can see the same message emerging globally in many different ways, so be creative! Every energy wave that we create now increasingly carries the power for transformation.

When we pay attention to something it changes – we can change its state, its structure and its energetic expression – but, this is very old knowledge now being explored through new science and metaphysics. Our times are primed for a big shift however, the current conditions on earth are unique, and these are conditions that accelerate change. We have entered an exponential trend that is pulling our awareness into transformation. Our awareness is growing. Collectively we are entering a new phase of our human development and history. It is a time for global co-operation in bringing the changes we most desire to our life-ways and relationship with our home planet. With this in mind 10BBs looks all the more important this time around. Global Drumming is a way of energetically paying attention to our fundamental energetic Earth matrix….just chew this over for a moment……

How each of us work with the drumming will be as unique as our selves, but, we are in the midst of a field change that our drumming will feed no matter how we work – so, pick up your drum, bring out your creativity and take to your feet, or let your spirit ride your drum’s dancing hooves. Whatever your delictation let it come from the heart……this way we will all bring genuine healing into this world. We do not have to have the ‘right ideas’ for this to happen, its not about ideas or thinking, its about being true to ourselves, authentic, genuine. From this place of personal power we can work within context, should we choose. We don’t have to look far to find a context that is relevant to us as individuals.

We are working within a field of growing mutability; old (………) structures are challenged, the world is becoming more fluid, and, if we have a mind to we can let our turbulent times teach us. We can clearly see that much of the challenge is for us to change how we consciously work with energy and power. This means revising how much our transactions define our relationships. We know that we will have to change our consumer ways – in fact, we have already become addicted to blind consumption, our lives literally being devoured by this rogue culture we and our ancestors have created. Over and above our everyday consumption of power and the debt of pollution that this creates, our relationship with nature rests upon this – providing we are not following the scientific fundamentalism that says science will provide the solution. There is another way – human nature and Nature moving into unity requires a deeper understanding of who we are and where we have come from than simply replacing one consumer model with another. When we can re-member what gives us life we can learn about our interrelationships – this way we all evolve as we learn, consciously, spiritually and physically. Everything is connected. Imagine then what happens when the global drumming includes the re-membering – it feeds those changes in our relationship with all that gives us life and, if we really want to get to this place, we must come from the heart. The heart is the place of our deepest memories……the seat of our indigenous soul.

When we bring energy to that place we create a re-volution within ourselves, and for there to be any genuine revolution it must start within – otherwise we tend to lapse back into the old patterning and amnesia. This is our opportunity to break the pattern……..

Our re-volutions here are evolutionary, gathering momentum that is bringing change through infusing our indigenous souls with new energy – and drumming is a powerful vehicle for this, pulsing energy into our earth matrix as well as our hearts. It is also dimensional, an immense opportunity to send prayers to the spirit worlds, to express our passion and commitment, and to ask for help. In our drumming we encourage the fire at the heart of our global community into life, and drumming brings the energy of our own center fire alive within our own heart – try stopping your body from moving in the thrall of an insatiable rhythm. When we work from this center we are in balance and connect. So, 10 Billion Beats is very much a part of this, creating an uprising of sap in the world tree; it is a re-surgence of our humanity.

Can we be audacious and claim our vision here and now?! Some would say yes, others that we’re not ready, others that we do not share the same vision……I would say no one person is wrong. What matters most is when a significant number are right, that is to say feel right within themselves, right in the sense of being genuine. So, if you have a vision why not claim it and feed it into the drumming?! Talking of visions……

I took a look at the stars for this years event…….what came through is a journey. We start at the heart of our Solar system, and from the Sun travel out towards the stars. With each planet as a way marker, a personage, this journey has a different feel to it – see what you can find en-route – here is the sequence……

….the Sun has returned to 25º Virgo; bringing the ethos of ‘service to humankind’ into our drive for thoroughness in carrying tasks through to fulfillment – the accomplished healer.

Moon is at 23º Taurus; natural processes are refined through our creative abilities, embodying our innate genius and gifts – the inspired artist.

Mercury is at 15º Virgo; balance achieved through consciously consolidating the inclusive healing values of ‘leaving no stone left unturned’ – the truth speaker.

Venus is at 4º Libra; spiritual communion with kindred spirits around the center fire of compassion as we enter untrodden pathways – the sacred fire-keeper.

Mars is at 30º Cancer; the challenge of release from the constrictions of traditions while carrying forward their highest values and expressions – the mentor.

Jupiter is at 10º Taurus; willingness to see both sides so that we can bring an altruistic expansion of healing to those in the dark and understanding to all – the seer.

Saturn is at 18º Libra; awareness of consequences as we take the risks necessary to realise our deepest convictions and bring transformation, embodying a shared purpose that transcends ego-driven gains – keeper of natural law.

Chiron is at 2º Pisces; gathering the medicines and knowledge needed for survival and protection – the keeper of sacred lore.

Uranus is at 3º Aries; the agent of change through which the innate power of the whole initiates enlightened transformation – the avatar.

Pluto is at 5º Capricorn; sustained use of physical and emotional energies in the spirit of purification, solidarity and unity of purpose – the spiritual warrior as alchemist.

Neptune is at 29º Aquarius; accepting initiation and joining in sacred company within the realms of higher consciousness – the initiated elder.

A company of 11, the number of mastery and movement to the higher level – a pathway initiating a journey from the heart of the solar system outwards into the greater community of the cosmos…..here the signs, Sabian symbols and planetary signatures are given roles that embody their energies at the time of the drumming. I have used the final phase of the drumming for the timing as this will complete the energy signature of the wave. The narrative must be supplied by each of us, according to how we relate to each of the planets. This is nearer to the oracular style of divination, but, it is certainly not the usual method of reading a chart. Take some time to follow and explore this planetary path and notice how their roles and sequencing resonates within. The return journey helps image the incoming energies as they enter our solar system’s spiral path from the galactic realms.

It is enough in itself, but, then, the planets have a voice of their own. So, here are the most prominent aspects between the planets, continuing the approach. As we look at the aspects we’ll stay with these roles and expand upon the dynamics they are emphasising through relationship……

Sun opposes Ceres – the earth mother is at 24º Pisces emphasising our Dharma as the path to realising oneness with the Earth. With the Sun in opposition she asks us to balance our self healing with our role as healers. Here is a mandate for our personal work as well as the role that each of our individual drum-beats can carry…..

The Sun is also involved in a yod – Sun sextile Mars, both quincunx Neptune. When mentoring and healing are brought together in energising relationship here they find expression through the initiated elder. Ceres role will aid Sun in this and bring the healing capacity within mentoring to a higher level, more fitting to the Elder’s role – it may be that the time is coming, with Neptune turning direct and heading for Pisces, that the energy we initiate now will help us restore the valued role of the Elder. This in itself a sign that inspiriting and transformational changes are at work, and there are many stepping up to this particular plate in our world right now……..

A second yod is formed by Mars sextile Venus, both in quincunx to Chiron. When the energies of the sacred fire keeper and the mentor activate each other they find expression in the keeper of sacred lore. Venus is bringing the unifying consciousness of the goddess, the fires of awareness that are at the heart of all things, into energised relationship with the guide to maturity – she enables this guidance to marry our innate gifts with the divine feminine creative power and here we re-claim our rites and rights as guardians of sacred lore. Our future may depend upon our ability to bring balanced male and female energies into these roles, they protect and preserve our future, and from these we can build its foundation within community……and, a little side note on Mars as mentor – here is the person who has seen lifes battles and knows how to heal them: with Venus carrying the eternal flame his mentoring becomes illuminated from within, he compliments Pluto’s role in forging the heart of the sacred warrior….Chiron’s healing abilities are directed at the heart, the seat of wisdom and the soul……

Venus role comes to the fore again in opposition to Uranus. The elightened energy and otherworldliness of the avatar finds direct corresondence with the spark of life, the central fire tended by the sacred fire-keeper – the opposition is a conduit of fire from the source, embodied here at two extremes, a symbol of kundalini as awakening cosmic energy uniting root and crown. When the electric nature of the universal energy of creation is realised all becomes connected, we realise our interconnectedness and goddess consciousness becomes manifest…..we are on the verge of this breakthrough, everything is pointing towards it…….

….it is held in balance within our world by our ability to work with the role of spiritual warrior as alchemist – Pluto squares both Venus and Uranus. This is helpful in understanding the energies that this role is challenged to work with. Fire is essential to the alchemical process, both for burning off the impurities and heating the elixir. The balance is exemplified in the current upsurging of passion for change that clears old regimes and lies within the human realm and within the activated energy field of the earth – with Pluto at the balance point we know this is a process that will completely re-structure our relationship with ‘power’, both human and natural. Our world work depends upon the balanced regulation of the fires, timing and modulation of intensity will determine whether the fire we work with has predominantly creative or destructive effects……..Pluto’s alchemy is our transformation into the sacred warrior…..cleansed ofour destructive ways, carrying the sacred fire in our hearts

There is an interesting correspondence between this drumming event and the last – in both instances the Moon is trining the Sun. In the first, last year, the Moon was approaching fullness – this time it is in its third quarter. We have moved on from the youthfull phase and are ready to birth – at a soul level this is speaking of embodying our innate spirit and fulfilling our soul path. As co-creators we can bring healing into our world and participate in evolution – our individual souls purpose rings with power through this and the vision we hold shifts with it. It helps to think of our purpose as mutable – when we came into life our personal story, our soul seed sung from the spirit world, gave us the songline which would help us orientate along our life path. We know when we are deviating from that path, feeling it at a soul level, but, as we follow we also learn how to navigate. As we grow in maturity (which is different from aging!) we can develop our path and become creative with it – in this there is a balance between fate and destiny. Collectively, we must turn to Saturn to help us understand how this dynamic is present with us in the drumming.

Firstly Saturn is conjunct Juno – she is at 17º Libra. Juno is the healer of relationships, but, she also takes past actions and deeds very much into account. At this degree of Libra this role is expanded through remembering crises from the past that can inform the corrective wisdom of the future. In this wisdom we can re-build our relationships and this is especially important to creating a fair and just society. With Saturn she is saying ‘be aware of your mistakes in the beginning’, an ancient and pithy Chinese saying that is associated with wise rulership. It requires risks to change, to be creative and to head into uncharted territory, and with Saturn sextile the North Node this becomes the leit-motive for our collective soul journey. Our challenge is openess and honesty where there has been deception, especially where this damages our relationships. Think about this in terms of governance, use of power, ecology and social diversity…the message comes home. But, we can achieve this…..

As if to emphasise the matter Mercury squares the North Node – only with complete and open knowledge we can bring balance and a solid foundation to our collective journey – our honesty supports our integrity. In waning trine to Jupiter Mercury, our conscious awareness, has become charged with deeper insight and his challenge to us is to carry this forward. Embodying this is our starting point.

At the outset of this years drumming the Moon is conjunct Jupiter. By the end of the drumming she will have progressed into exact trine with the Sun. Between these two points in time she will form a yod with Saturn/Juno and the North Node. In mundane astrology the Moon is the people – the healing vision that Saturn and Juno are re-enforcing the North Node with, our path to a collective destiny, can become manifest and we can energise it at the very heart of our drumming. At 18º Sagittarius the North Node has an uncanny relationship with Jupiter – Jupiter rules this sign so this is a powerful confirmation for our soul journey. The 18th degree also speaks of expansion into the ‘super-physical’ realms, beyond matter, dimensional and galactic by nature, but, the emphasis here also falls upon safe practice as we do so. Again, balance, within dynamic relationship, is key. Saturn and Juno fund this with their unified wisdom. To  freeing ourselves from poisonous habituation and enter the unknown, we must be wise to our past mis-demeanors as well as responsible for our journey – there are no passengers here……..

There are many strong people in the world but no-one is more powerful than a person in possession of self-knowledge. Although our course is still as yet unknown, each of us has a vision to contribute, of who we are and of where we could go. We have not yet achieved a level of unity in consciousness in which our evolutionary potential can be realised collectively – we are still learning, but, our learning is an exponential feedback loop that is fostering the awareness necessary. How we change will now also become increasingly energised by change itself. As we transform we achieve integrity, in both senses of the word, and realise in ever more tangible ways that we are all a part of one organism. To me, the roles that the planets have revealed in this special moment suggest that we are fully capable of following the initiatic path to completion. It is a path through which we can find and embody our roles as sacred warriors, each with our own unique experience and gifts to offer the world. That we are able to do so, as a collective, depends very much on clearing the wound we have created, of poisons of our own making, both environmentally, collectively and individually – this means living responsibly, and making our every action count. More than this, it relies, with all its implications, on the fully conscious realisation that we are capable of changing our world, and ourselves. The sacred warrior is the archetype of one who has realised the transformative power behind their life experiences and transformed themselves through initiatic immersion in their sacred flames – one who has forged a new spiritual body .

In the times of our ancestors, specifically here in the ‘western world’, where the path of maturation and the initiatic rites of passage were once a part of our active and pervasive traditions deeply embedded at the heart of our cultures, they are now embedded within secular everyday experience. They are  largely de-sacralised and therefore made impotent and incomplete. At the same time, the wisdoms of the mystery schools, the mystery of becoming empowered through initiation into the living knowledge, has become overlayered with and buried beneath our everyday world experiences. We experience and have built a culture based upon an exile from spirit. Our culture itself tries to assuage the hunger that our souls feel through this. A paradoxical malaise, and polarisation of consciousness has grown out of this, and yet, although we may not live within the consciously realised circle of their cultural matrix, the living energies of our initiatic path live on within – they speak to us in our dreams, with the language of our spirit dreaming, through our creativity, in life’s cycles. It is natural that they do so – we are nature too and these are natural energies and cycles. We are still seeking to bring them out, to re-member them and give them new form. Realising our own role of sacred warrior enables this – it is natural for us to connect with spirit in the heart…..to let spirit sing through us,  songs that carry innate memories, vibrant even now with life force and vital to our well being, but also a part of the larger evolutionary process……..but, hey!….there’s nothing like a good rhythm section to bring a song alive…….

……..every beat of our drums at 10 Billion Beats is a pulse that drives the soul vessel of humanity forward on our journey towards claiming our true gifts, as sacred warrior guardians of the Earth Garden – as initiates within the community of the cosmos. What a year we have had – what a future we can now drum up! Listen. Earth is heaven……..how we experience heaven is in our own hands. Lets drum!!

Reality Check……

On 15th June the world saw a spectacular Lunar eclipse that left many breathless, not only for its beauty, something we could all share in, but, also its energetic impact, something felt, much more personal. Just 6 days later at the Solstice this interwoven dichotomy of experience was developed and given a more archetypal context, the dance of light and dark,  a cardinal seed moment whose influence will stay with us until the Equinox in September. And once again, we are hardly given breathing space before the final eclipse of the current triplet sees the Sun once more beshadowed by the Moon on July 1st in 9 degrees Cancer, and this time the emergent pattern will embed into the matrix with even more lasting effect – the cycles and patterns unfolding through this time are emphasising layers upon layers, the energetics of this time are challenging us to both focus and learn how to shift between focii, to develop and hold multiple points of view, balance in motion – this may feel like an overload at times,  like a softening up process, but, awareness and simplicity can be our allies here, help us to see how can we work with the dynamics as they play out, and prepare us for the upcoming months, both collectively and personally…….

The first eclipses have been activating the Gemini Sagittarius axis, and the emphasis here is all about resolving difference through taking the higher/deeper point of view, giving differentiation a higher and more holistic purpose…..in this post we will take a look at into some of the intrinsic qualities of this energetic imprint in the current eclipse cycle, and ask, what do eclipses hold for us. Lets get down to Earth…..

As a ‘mundane’ example of the Gemini influence let us suppose that we are focusing on and seeking solutions to problems of energy production, for instance. Events around the world continue to stimulate our innate knowing and we ‘know’ we must be careful not to get swept along together on the same old ‘band-wagon’ approach to energy production, but, there is an impetus here to become aware of when we are being propogandised, which, with Gemini, means not only developing our personal powers of discernment, but, lending each other our insights. We know that it is dangerous to ‘leave it to the government’ to sort things out, but, Gemini also stimulates us to differentiate what we personally can do with the technologies available. Mercury is ever the inventive left-field spark that lights us up. Under a new Moon we would do well to initiate these conscious drives for change, but, under the influence of an eclipse we may well be confronted with situations that force our hand if we do not.

The Gemini archetype with its emphasis on communication and intelligence can be seen playing out through the masses on a daily basis, as we are so strongly embedded within a culture of media and networking, and with regards energy production we are still seeing and hearing the same old official line, globally. The controlled franchised mass production of ‘alternative energy’ that international and governmental agendas ‘seem’ to be aiming for is still using the model of mass production and big business investment as the vehicle, and this lacks the kind of awareness that shifts us out of the ‘problem’. In the face of this the drive for action becomes ever more visceral on this issue and, so long as we keep on sending the same consumerist message back, the whole situation will continue to carry and manifest the same intrinsic dependancies – this comes at a price, one that is being payed for not least of all by ‘the tax payer’.

There is a far greater cost that is being payed as well, and, if we are not extremely careful, will continue to be payed at ever increasing cost by ‘the environment’, for exactly the same underlying reasons. Massive dams, for example, that obliterate the land and disrupt the natural powerhouses of the ‘eco-system’, such as the Belo Monte Dam project in the Amazon rainforest, destroy blindly in order to manifest power in totally unacceptable ways, ways that expose disregard for the rights of individuals, our natural and inherent relationship with the land, not to mention for Nature herself. The old paradigm clings on with its emphasis on usery and reveals its own unconscious patterning, which the Gemini influence casts a spotlight upon. We know that this political power game does not offer solutions of itself, especially without respect for the people,  public involvement and consultation – so, with Mercury emphasising our communications and connectivity as a counter balance we can utilise the moment and create a feedback loop that brings these issues to the surface, into the light of day.

Being awake is a Mercury attribute that is rising now, the Gemini eclipses also work through this, intensifying, and it is something we will be seeing emphasised of over the coming months, especially as Mercury opposes Capricorn from the last degrees of Cancer and swings into Leo. Things will hot up when he enters Leo. Petitioning, which is becoming a powerful corrective on-line lobbying force, does work and make a difference – through the collective voice our individual voices will be heard, it too is a form of uprising and it utilises Geminian energy in the best way. This can work with unexpected vigour around eclipses – with consciousness the force for change can be turned around and directed towards a goal. With Leo behind Mercury the rhetoric will incite to demonstration and display of public will.

The Fukushima meltdown continues to unfold its ugly inner truths, now that the meltdowns have been admitted, after the fact. But, then, for all the admissions, neither does re-enforcing safety guidelines and health security checks for the Nuclear industry provide a solution and these will be hot issues under the Cancer eclipse – as an increasing number of national governments are showing, ending nuclear power generation is the way forward. Right there is the Sagittarian higher purpose that has also been at work. This is about listening to Fukushima, not blurring the facts in an attempt to dumb-down the public through ignorance, as has been the case clearly demonstrated (even now) with Tepco, the official stance of the Japanese nuclear authorities and the international nuclear power community. Those with the prime investment, the political and economic muscle, are clearly seen to be blocking progress on this issue – this too will be brought out by the Cancer eclipse as mirrored in Capricorn. In this too we need to be careful about the solutions offered in replacement, that ensure our future well-being  – Cancerian concerns. Gemini encourages the use of discernment, Sagittarius asks us to be conscious of the longer term effects, the bigger picture, whatever we come up with. We can, and must, carry these forward now on the Cancerian impulse – its getting personal.

Mercury also brings us into becoming articulate with the detail. On the ground, reduction in usage, which may well be forced upon us anyway, is key in respect of our resources – we are inequivocably being shown that all of us need to become aware of how we consume and use power. The localised and individual creation of alternative energy sources, of energy networks (and that includes monetary) can provide a realistic solution, or at least the essential beginnings of one. It is also a solution that can be built upon, belong more to the people and can begin to free us from our dependancies upon the ‘big business’ generators of practical power and the economics infra-structure. In the 80’s Local Exchange Trading Systems, L.E.T.S., became very popular as a way of sidestepping the economic binds of currency, inflation and taxation….these can be created and networked any time, anywhere that there is the will and knowledge to do so, even amongst small groups of friends. Trading our skills, personal time and energy, home-made or produced goods, information and knowledge is at the heart of this idea and is the way forward. Infact it is happening everywhere, is natural……the only resistance, once again, comes from the old infra-structures. The Cancerian energies will help manifest these localised home grown initiatives as a break from the past through this coming eclipse and beyond.

Mercury is very electric, the spark in the synapse, his energy follows an interactive web. The internet does offer us another way in which we can utilise difference, diversity of skills and knowledge, in a mutual and more holistic way, but, the internet too is dependant upon the mass production systems that have led to the problems we are now facing. Getting with Nature, our own and this planet’s, as a part of our Earth’s consciousness and spirit, is also being emphasised through this time and is being reflected in the celestial bodies. Jupiter in Taurus trines Pluto and sextiles Neptune – this grounds a revolutionary vision of how our Earth could be and we can expect this to be sustained now, an expanding and inspiring energy for deep change, the pattern will hold through the second half of the year. When Neptune backtracks into Aquarius our inner connectivity within the matrix of nature will seek expression, a great opportunity to get out on the land and feel the Earth beneath our feet, let her speak to us. Communications in the mundane might well need this grounded balance and we could see a tricky time of mixed messages and subversive leaks that seek to bring an end to the rape of the planet’s resources, especially with the building square between Uranus and Pluto. They are coming close to an exact square late in July around the Leo New Moon – this will be one to watch as the NM is at the action point of a yod to Neptune and Pluto! By then Mercury will be entering Virgo – what do we want, virgin wilderness or wasteland?!

Intensity is without a doubt building, and we might think that eclipses engender this, everything seems to point in that direction. But, eclipses are enigmatic, can be both inspiring and provocative. They can challenge our connectivity into realism, but, in reality their effects are little understood and hard to predict. So, why are eclipses considered especially profound in astrology and divination? Utilising the Geminian energies this is a question I put to a number of forums on the web and the insights offered here draw on some of the answers, speculations and conversations this brought out.

Our inner connectivity brings us into the web more fully; we know that our connections as ‘seering’ beings cannot be pulled at the plug and, when we are ‘turned on’ in this way we ‘know’ and can be in the right place at the right time! But, there is a sense in which eclipses can be dis-connective. So, we need to look deeper. What is at work in eclipses and how will the eclipse in Cancer differ from the previous two in Gemini?

To give some shape to the second question first, where-as the last two eclipses in Gemini were working through the mutable energies of preperation and adaptability for change, the Solar eclipse on the 1st July will be in a cardinal sign – that signals initiation of a new energy pattern. The Moons physical body enshadows the Sun in Cancer, emphasising in visceral and emotive ways issues close to home, our personal and collective security, our inhereted relationships, indigenous traditions and the feeling senses through which we experience and share our psycho-somatic reality, incarnate experience as living spirit – it too is very people orientated in this. This eclipse stimulates the underlying energies of the cardinal cross as well as bringing the water signs and the element of water, with all its implications, to the fore – the Solstice, the Suns ingress into Cancer, heralded the point of shift, the eclipse embeds it with longer lasting and profound effect. But, this eclipse is also the first in a new Saros cycle, its shadow barely impinging on the Earth’s surface – perhaps we can expect it to be a more subtle seeding influence….

……the first eclipse, also a partial Solar, was perhaps more subtle for being at the end of a Saros cycle, less consciously determined. We highlighted a call to feel out a path to compromise, to facilitate this by taking notice of how the bigger picture speaks through us, even in personal ways – a question of getting with the river rather than trying to push it, of getting our egocentricity in perspective within the flow. If we doubted the reality of this at the time, the full Lunar eclipse that followed brought it home more fully, quite literally.

On a mundane level water, and the lack of, over abundance of it, is a huge issue through the time of these big Solar/Lunar events and with the third eclipse in a water sign we can expect this to become even more central and remain with us. Water brings our attention to the issues of availability, cleanliness, pollution, infact an endless list can be rolled out – almost every facet of life is both connected through and affected by our relationship with this life giving element. On a global scale, tsunami alerts are now firmly incorporated into reporting seismic events located near or in the oceans, massive rainfall is being experienced world-wide, swelling rivers and extreme weather are producing both landslides, devastation and inundation, the very ground we have been living and sleeping upon is shifting, becoming fluid, being swallowed up, and is also questioning our sense of certainty with archetypal power.

Globally, through these events, we are seeing the undeniable power of water influence how we see the world we have created for ourselves. And, it is typical of eclipses that in the periods surrounding them something of our accustomed everyday sense of security is swept aside and the challenging truth beneath revealed. On a cosmological scale, the collective dream is being swept away – as our attention is pulled back to the all too easily overlooked subtle collective power of Neptune still in early Pisces, eclipses are returning us to an awareness of Nature reasserting herself, the visionary’s master stroke, a global cleansing of consciousness through the matrix as nature expresses it. Its as if on waking up to the reality of our destructive and unconscious rush towards the future we are realising that the dream was an illusion, that we have neglected our relationships to our ancestors dreams, very 12th house, that the dream did not truly belong to us at all, was the inheretance and consequence of misguided short-sighted egocentric inner dynamics – Neptune dissolves the ego in this sense. There are far more fundamental issues at stake as we enter the unknown….

To get to and work with the dynamics involved we need to be prepared to go through the upcoming times – there is no room for avoidance tactics, deceptions (self or otherwise) or ungrounded faith in outside intervention, governmental or divine! If eclipses do anything they show just how real our lives are. This can be experienced in as many different ways as there are individual astrological charts, so, do look to your own and expect marked effects if the eclipse falls on an angle, natal planet or forms a strong aspect to your own Sun and/or Moon.

Eclipses strip back a layer of consciousness, either mental or somatic, and reveal what has been beneath the surface all along. The sudden presence of underlying dynamics of the psyche within consciousness, when brought to the surface, can be unsettling and challenging – they can also precipitate events that begin or end through those same emergent energies; the house in which they occur will give you the context, the sign its flavour.

It is as if they interrupt the flow of ‘normality’. A better way of imaging them may be to liken the effect to sweeping the surface of a pond of its accumulated detritus, in that brief eclipsing moment – naturally, what lies below then rises to the surface. They also offer us a brief but powerful glimpse beneath the surface. A solar eclipse will alter our thinking and subvert our habitual mentality, questioning our drives, which can bring strong realisations out that we usually ignore, or prefer to shield ourselves from – full Solar eclipses reveal our animal nature at work and give us access to our instinctive soul drives. They will reveal to us something of the direction our soul is taking, by default. Events will reflect this back to us. A Lunar eclipse will work psycho-somatically so that the body-mind becomes the locus for our awareness, an instance in which our spiritual nature speaks more through the body and our consciousness is brought down to earth. They will reveal something of the state of our soul. In both cases our intimacy with the world is hightened. In both cases the collective effects remain potent, especially when the eclipse point is transited, for many months, years even, some astrologers believe. The triple eclipse pattern compounds the effects – this has been a turbulent time!

On a personal note, I was surprised at how many people reported feeling drained, bruised and closed down following the full Lunar eclipse. ‘Stop trying so hard’, ‘first rest’ and ‘then, let the work flow through’. Many people reported finding renewed purpose in this. It is in the nature of eclipses that we witness the unstoppable forces at work in the cosmos and, if we have been working with an intent that is not in tune with those forces, the rug is well and truly being pulled now. Any subversive ego serving ambitions we may have attached to our purposefullness are being shorn away – but, this is not a case of divine punishment, that idea belongs to the outgoing paradigm…..rather, what we are seeing here is that, the more sensitive and empathic people were through this month, the more we felt it at this Moon. At our deeper levels we merge.

Unity, if it is being sought, is already there…..the strength and resilience of our souls and how in synch we are with our personal soul path are highlighted in this experience – this, in essense is the only work. Any outstanding business that we have put on the back-burner is likely to emerge, and we know that we must do something about it. As uncomfortable as it may be, rest assured, this offers a route to holistic self realisation. It is the first intimation of the ‘softening up process’ that is releasing us from the shackles of the past. It is going into the wound without fear and leads beyond survival to flourishing….

As the ‘Moons of Zuvuya’ implied we survive and thrive through Grace, and, particularly, we thrive through getting real about who we are. What the Lunar eclipse added to this was the imperative to remember why we came here and, as the Sun reached the cardinal crossing point and swung around the hitching post of the year, the question was deepened to asking whether we are fulfilling this original purpose….both an individual and collective question. As the Storyteller Moon reminded us we are all in the same boat and our individual paths are inextricably interwoven – everyone’s story counts when it comes to our future and our future is collectively interwoven within the great dreaming of life. There is a very visceral medicine path in this.

It is as if our ‘shields’ are momentarily down and this means having greater access to our core essence, our greater self. This can be hard work, at a soul level, and in such moments the sudden absence of our protective and habitual masks and modus operandi can leave us feeling vulnerable, especially if we are not prepared for the experience. When events are triggered in our personal lives that reflect this we can look to the nature of the events to find out something of great value about ourselves and this works in two ways.

Firstly, the event will be the perfect mirror of that part of our circle of shields , or masks of personality, which has become momentarily eclipsed – by its reflection we can get a sense of what we create in our own personal reality that we normally take foregranted. These can more often than not be seen as personality traits, masks we wear, as characters we adopt for our social functioning and survival, both inner and outer. Quite often we create these masks to protect undeveloped, unintegrated or wounded parts of ourselves – they can also be positivistic, compensatory, bring balance, are useful, have social functions that support our outer lives, but, they are also, invariably, secondary to our true nature. It is a part of this process that we become aware of and articulate with, rather than being articluted by those masks. This is where the second way in which eclispses aid our work comes through.

Have you ever been in a radical situation, an accident or unforeseen crisis suddenly happened, and something took over, pulled you into action in a way that you are not familiar with? The radical potential behind eclipses can manifest such initiatic events. When we are exposed, without preperation, to the larger dynamics of life something can happen that by-passes our ego-centricity – the energy released can be awesome! The power of the psyche, its raw spiritual essence, can take over and we will find ourselves responding by doing what otherwise we might consider beyond our capabilities – we might not even recognise ourselves. Or, we might recognise our deeper self more fully. In medicine work, the inner work prepares us for this, is itself akin to a softening up or tempering process. Essentially, in an adrenal rush, we become opened to tapping into the universal energy more directly, its influx from source being more direct, less filtered, great things can be achieved in the face of crisis. It is in the aftermath that we need to be careful with ourselves…..

Have you ever wondered how much of our dis-connection from nature is symptomatic of a collective post traumatic stress syndrome – when Barbara Hand Clow coined the phrase ‘catastrophobia’ (1) she highlighted the effects of global cataclysmic events on the collective human psyche. There is every reason to believe that beneath many of our collective disfunctional behaviours is a collective soul-loss, our feeling of seperation from Nature, and all its implications, being the symptomatic wound. It can also be that, when a crisis is so great that it overwhelms us, we go into shut-down. Behind humanity’s ‘fault-line’ may be  a ‘source’ event that we are seeing mirrored back in the world now. Collective soul loss may be the one greatest issue of our times, a natural reflex in which our spiritual center, or a part of it, is shifted out of the personal conscious into the universal unconscious. In healing this fragmentation, through ‘soul retrieval’, we can also experienced a revelation of our wholeness, the restoration of an aspect of our selves that we have lost touch with, but, feel and are aware of  through the loss……with the hightening effects of eclipses this may be a part of their dynamic, a cosmic intervention that aids us in bringing ourselves home. But, it requires sustained care and support for integration, compassion and willingness, on our part. With eclipses the involuntary element makes this and preperation, the inner work, all the more poigniant and can highlight areas we have been unconscious to in our practice. Collectively, if worked with consciously, eclipses can offer anopportunity to engender collective compassion, which can also often come unexpectedly, from an inner resource we may never have realised we have….here too is a part of the softening up process, and it is a sacred call to forgiveness. In some senses its as if a cosmic ‘tough love’ is at work, an opening of the heart. It might help us greatly now if we are able to see the current state of the world in this way…….

The key to working with eclipses is through treating them as time-out zones, making our lives simpler for the moment, paying more attention and care to ourselves and others….and engendering compassion, courage and forgiveness. We may find this visited upon us, but, we are never without choice, never beyond hope. If you are considering launching a new venture, reflect upon your motives. Undertaking any major change through an eclipse time will carry the imprint of the eclipse within our soul path – many astrologers advise against such. It is not impossible though to utilise this in a way that is beneficial in the long term – if the intent is to give ourselves more time to be genuine, more deeply rooted in our soul path, it can be profoundly awakening. The biggest element though is unpredictability – for as much as we are able to forecast eclipses, for all the inner dynamics, insights into their workings, their immediate and lasting effects are unpredictable……they challenge us to be ourselves in the now, no matter what. But, the mirror of the unforeseen is Grace, and healing may enter by her gateway.

The second half of the year will see our world traversing the end count of the Mayan calendar – this has been calculated and exquisitely extrapolated by the Mayan ancestors. Contemporary commentators such as Carl Calleman have brought our understandings to an inspired level of clarity, but, for all that we can fore-see, we cannot know what lies ahead of us. The energies are rising, intensifying, approaching unification within consciousness. We are entering the unknown……deep consciousness that is intrinsic to all life is emergent within us. This, perhaps more than anything else at this time, is what these eclipses are softening our selves up for, through every cell in our body, right down to the core of our being. Eclipses are sacred gateways. We must go through them as we have an appointment with destiny. We are on our way to meeting and being met by the Dark Goddess…..in her, all life is born…..Prima Materia Sapienta. But, more on Her next time….

The Moons of Zuvuya

Hold tight, seems the Universe has a sense of humour, and, the joke could well be on us – but, first….

A Question : Do you think Eckhart Tolle is right?…….

“As far as inner transformation is concerned, there is nothing you can do about it. You cannot transform yourself, and you certainly cannot transform your partner or anybody else. All you can do is create a space for transformation to happen, for grace and love to enter.” Eckhart Tolle

I doubt if Terence Mckenna would agree! But, old Eckhart is also surfing a very particular and clean wave here, one that belongs more in the ascetic tradition than that of the psycho-active shaman. Eckhart is a smooth rider, no fancy turns or popping the tube, more your smooth grace-ful arcs and crisp lines, all stripped down to the present moment – and yet, and yet, the ‘ocean’ can be a boiling cauldron too……

I’ll never forget surfing under the full Moon for the first time – somehow in the luminous darkness it made sense of the power of the wave and gave the water a visceral quality of dark primal energy that wove together the planetary dance with the elemental, brought everything to an instinctive level……then there were times when the Sun was setting and shining its light right through the wave, rainbow bejewelled spin-drift and glassy water spirits shimmering all round…..the Neptunian fields sighing at the shore….a total contrast by day and night, two sides of the same coin, and, oh boy! Getting a little nostalgic? Well, invite Neptune into your dreams this night and you may discover that She, yes She, is the great Oceanic Mother who is bringing the full breadth and depth of the Mysteries back from the deeper realms of our consciousness so that we can all surf the Zuvuya (1), all the way into the shores of the coming times……but, then, there were also those times when the storm waves arrived and surfing became transformed into a dance of total exhiliration between survival and a psycho-somatic art-form, turbulent ecstatic madness for the watery hell of it – short of the metaphor this is pretty much where we are at right now, the big rollers are beginning to whip up and its time to get the long boards and the ocean going canoes out….get ready, once we pass the balance point of light and dark at solstice this is going to be one hell of a ride……meanwhile……

We are coming into an eclipse cycle that will bring the Solar and Lunar energies together in ways that cut across the ‘standard time’ experience and open a three strand wave of opportunity that we will miss surfing at our peril – no more ‘for the hell of it’,  more the ecstatic dance in which survival depends upon how well we have developed our skills as spiritual warriors and navigators, and, how well we can let go into the frey – perhaps not everyone on this planet is ready, there could be some serious wipe-outs (first signs are there for all to see) and the view from the shore may well begin to look like we’re closed out – but, this is exactly where all that inner preperation finds it purpose – those who are ready will feel the pull of the ocean and know what to do. Neptunia will make sure of it…..

At this Gemini New Moon we enter a quick-fire and potentially transformative eclipse cycle of 3 consecutive eclipses within the space of 1 month – while these are not the only eclipses this year, this cycle initiates lasting influences that will imprint the next 6 months – how we fare through this time will lay down a template that will affect everything that comes after through this year, and our ongoing story also depends upon adapting to that way of thinking. ‘The Power of Now’ (2) gives us access to all time. As if to push the point home, this cycle also straddles the June Solstice. The effects tie in to the seasonal cycles, a different measure of time, more familiar to our ancestors, that was a primary influence on the emergence of contemporary human culture. Duality was born here, emphasising the balance of light and dark on Earth, Life and Death, and how we work with them. And, there is more, much more, but, the turbulence in the world now being thrown up by the rising chaotic complexity of many cross currents is one of our potential stumbling blocks, so lets keep it simple and start with a little technical data…..

The new Moon on June 1st is a partial Solar eclipse at 11º02’ in tropical Gemini – it is in the Saros cycle 118 and will be visible from Northern latitudes initiating in northern China/south-eastern Siberia at 19:25 UT, maxing on the north coast of western Siberia at 21:16 UT, and ending just north of Newfoundland at 23:06 UT – northern Finland and Norway will see a partially eclipsed ‘Midnight Sun’, so, if you are living or visiting up there this could be a great time to make some powerful medicine as well as witness amazing beauty – we need this, a great photo opp. to spread on the net and remind ourselves of the mystery and wonder of Life on Earth – this alone is good medicine! It is also a powerful reminder that in the midst of the constant light of the north beyond the arctic circle at midsummer an eclipse interrupts the natural order of light and dark…….this is of its nature, and a clue to how we can work with its energies and the opportunities they bring.

The Saros cycle 118 is in its final phases and this first eclipse is considered a ‘grandmother’ of the cycle – by contrast, the July Solar eclipse, the third of the 3 will be the first of the Saros 156 cycle, a ‘new-born’…..the middle eclipse of the 3 will be a total Lunar eclipse, midway through Saros cycle 130, and this really is the one to watch for spiritual and earthwise tectonics as it centers on the meeting point of the Antarctic, African and Indian/Asian continental plates – it could trigger some very strong volcanic and EQ activity….infact the whole theme of this triple cycle is heavily Earth oriented, and ‘heavy’ is one of the operative words here…..the three eclipses also remind us of the trigram for ‘Water’ with one Yang line between two Yin, so ‘flow’ is another key word…..and remember, water has the power to shape the hardest substance…..

…..remember also, at the last Moon we saw the focus shifting very much towards the sensual, heart centered and earth-bound, the Taurean/Venusian effect, well, this coming cycle is going to reveal just why this was and is so important now. The inner planets continue to carry this imprint forward, but, the planets do not compel, they impel, which means they ask us to pay attention. And paying attention to how we are intergrating on the earth-plane is challenged by the tensions building through the outer planets. In the midst of growing unrest how well are we able to develop our appreciation of the beauty and values of this incarnate Life experience, and work through the ‘manifest’ to further our inner work while taking this into our practices in this world, the ‘middle world’ – even on the most basic level; how many people just don’t have a clue about growing plants? This is precisely the focus we are now asked to develop further. We do not need to engage with the death oriented consumer culture any more than our intelligence will prevent us from doing – we can help each other in this, sharing rather than selling our expertise to each other and, since Gemini is the field influence for the eclipse, we should pay some attention to Mercury’s disseminating intelligence in our personal charts.

Mercury as go-between is in late Taurus accompanied by asteroid Hecate, the no messing crone mother, emphasising that our very ability to be self-reflectively communicative is open to a new and deeper level of understanding, expression and experience, one with different drives. We need real dialogue that doesn’t hedge the issues – network without fear! And as Mercury is purveyor of hinge point mentality, literally ‘becoming articulate’, this eclipse is an opportunity for some really juicy ‘left-field’ thinking – Saturn trining the darkened Sun will make sure of it being related to our shared issues, in every sense, well outside the ‘norm’. Whatever we feel most strongly will manifest, so, watch your temper and tune in to the buzz on the outer and inner grapevine.

Perhaps a little more emphasis or gravitas is needed after all though and, amongst other things, this eclipse cycle is highlighting even further the escalating effect that our presence on Earth has had this last 13,000 years, as if that perspective hasn’t already become screamingly obvious. But, this harkens back to that very ‘moment’ in which our ability to articlute reality and to be articulate in describing it became superceded by its own product, the false face god of logical thinking, and its despotic little fascistic ruler, the ego. Once this set up kicked in, then, we have polarity, abstraction and a different order of ‘Time’ dictating to us. So, bear this in mind – the ego is an illusion creating our experience through outward appearances, appearances that say ‘everything is coming to a polarised condition’, one that must be controlled or must give way! Don’t buy it! No one is in control, the Ocean of Being is coming alive……

The intention here is not to scare or spread confusion, rather it is to offer a pragmatic reflection of where we are and where we are going, the better to be prepared……the alternatives? Well, we could just carry on ‘as normal’, and it is easy to approach astrology and divination practices in a frivolous and light way, the popular media do it every day, however, it is essential to test out your experiences against the messages all of us receive – they need to be grounded to have any bearing, Neptunian influences demand it. While our emphasis here has been on nurturing and carefully attending to our own ‘seeing’ abilities, we are already fully capable of collectively becoming ‘seeing’ beings, its just a matter of critical mass, so everyone counts. However, how many times do we seek divinations and then fail to follow through, and its when the stories come back of what happened when someone did follow through that are the real soul food that we all as diviners love to receive – that dialogue too is a necessary part of our practice. It helps us to know where we are at. And, since opening our ‘seeing’ eyes is intrinsic to the transformation of our consciousness…….the quality of our awareness is what helps the transformation and brings us fully into the process.

I mention this for two reasons – firstly we are being asked by the planetary process to give serious attention to the very nature of reality at this time, within which our personal and collective blind spots and resultantly destructive inclinations are under severe scrutiny, not least of all as they directly affecting the reality we are experiencing in unconscious ways; how many times have you heard the exhortation that we must become ‘co-creators’ – we already are, its a matter of realising it consciously, and the trouble is, when we are not consciously creating we are like open doors for the 4th dimensional low-life to work through – Neptune’s shadow! Astrologers disagree on who rules Virgo, opposite Pisces, some saying its Mercury, some Ceres and some Chiron….all of whom are figuring here, as we will see, so, look to their placements in your charts for seruptitious indicators of where that Neptunian shadow might be sneeking in and out….

Secondly, while we have also been emphasising the importance of Neptune’s ingress into tropical Pisces, Neptune’s domicile sign, the very nature of Neptunian influence is collective, and, while being the mystic in such times also has its purpose, we will be challenged in taking Neptune’s messages seriously here as well. It is easy to get confused – how many people call a mystic in an emergency?! Truth is not easily won in such circumstances and we will miss the boat if we do not pay attention here as well. Although Neptune will soon slide back into Aquarius for 6 months, the current brief Neptunian domicile time gives us a taste of the new underlying reality for the next 23 years, the length of stay once the mystic planet moves back into the spiritual zone of Pisces next March. Here-in lies the key for a whole generation of incarnation, those born with Neptune in Aquarius. This in itself is astonishingly pertinent, as transformation of Global consciousness is manifesting through ‘the people’ even in the midst of apparent disorder and the big shift in the coming years will come from this generation – it really is not about the shit thats hitting the fan as the old order disintegrates, its about the ability of those who have to clear it up to do so while holding a collective vision, and that begins a year last Tuesday in Galactic time – Neptune in Aquarius also tells us we have to have a new reality within ourselves that we can communicate in order to transcend the old one outside! The indigo children and the rising archetype of the child with stars in its eyes are our future. This, as an opportunity for ‘seeing’, is what eclipses are all about…..we are talking about initiating collective spiritual realities through the generations…..and, as ever, everyone counts in the holographic universe.

So, we have something of the tenor of this opening eclipse, as an old cycle of Solar eclipses is coming to a close, a grandmother is holding open the crack in time, a moment of opportunity to step outside the old structuring principle and press the inner reset button…..and, what of the other planets……

Seems all very complicated, but, again, simplicity is the order of the day, and to re-iterate, this eclipse can be characterised by two perspectives that are interwoven very tightly – one, as the old structures and safety nets are withdrawn a certain willingness to accept that we are not in control, that control is not the issue, and, two, accepting that letting go and getting with the flow will allow our true nature to emerge into the world….in order to live in and experience the ‘holographic universe(s)’ we need to ‘flow’ with inner balance…..its a lesson in surfing…..and is no less a discipline for that.

Heres a ‘time’ check…..speculation on the plane of the outer planets, over the next 2 years. Uranian energies will vie with Plutonian to ensure that both of these strands happen simultaneously – Neptunian influences upon our underlying realities will become increasingly supportive of the process, and, as the Moon’s North Node and Saturn converge upon each other (they will meet exact conjunct, with Venus, in the 9th degree of Scorpio 3 days prior to the September Equinox 2013), we should be finding increasingly powerful ways of manifesting our new reality. By the time the North Node reaches Saturn’s current degree in Libra, the final square between Uranus and Pluto will be manifesting the culminative phase of their ‘joint’ input into this massive transformative process. And once Uranus transits the South Node, he will have helped us manifest our new humanity, ‘singing the body electric’ (not the song from Fame!) by remembering where we came from, our stellar nature, and how we got here…..we are talking March Equinox 2015……

Yes there are many powerful and significant astrological alignments all through this longer period, but, its what we are about in the meantime that will make all the difference to how much we are able to manifest their high side when they arrive……so, what of 2012? Well here is the gift not only of Neptune through the run-up to ‘that’ date, but, also of this flurry of eclipses……and, zooming in to present time once more, the key aspects to this first Solar eclipse are also very simple, but, no less radical for it – on the contrary! Saturn trines the June 1st eclipse to within 1º, and Ceres squares the Nodal axis exactly from late Pisces. Remember, Oct 28th 2011 sees the end of the current cycle in the Mayan long count by one method, December 21st 2012 by another – these twin strands also work together and the intervening time is our time of ‘grace’ – in many ways this is the entry into the experimental zone. All this re-weaving of strands can be seen as a description of how our DNA is evolving – we know that we have 97% of it waiting to kick in consciously, and thats the creative powerhouse that connects us into the cosmic matrix. Relating will take on a whole new meaning!

Saturn continues emphasising how important our ability to relate is at this time – he will turn direct again just 3 days before the second of our 3 eclipses, so there we have the self-reflective process of our inner work turning tangibly outwards again. Neptune and Chiron go retro in the meantime so here the personal focus of this process becomes fed by our how our outer perceptions relate inwardly – the two work together, as within, so without – so, perhaps this will help us see how the dynamic towards intentional activity that ‘goes with the flow’ develops.

In trine to the June 1st eclipse Saturn brings strong unwavering focus and presence to our awareness as the crack in time opens. But, could be this is not only about hitting the ‘reset’ in our connectivity through time and space…Ceres will feed directly into our most precious visions and resources at this time, the Earth Mother teaching her fledgling children about the true nature of our souls’ journey. Jeez its getting to look pretty much like cosmic soup, but, wait……..! Wasn’t there some mention of ‘grounding’ back there……this is where Ceres ruthless pragmatism can really help at that soul level……

“Look around” she will say, “and feel it! – See how much grief is present in this world? Have you let the Plutonic powers steal your soul……our souls, Earth’s soul? No not mine, oh, my children!” Ceres sits at the southern waning square to the nodal axis, which means she is alerting us to whats around us, the incoming from outside, so that we can digest it and make of it soul food as well as jetison what no longer metabolises. So, actually she is working independantly on the same agenda as Neptune and Chiron. Ceres great message is that we are soul makers, transmuters of spirit in matter, infact she is teaching us here in very tangible ways that matter and spirit are one – if we don’t get the grief of the seperation, we continue in the illusion and stand to go down with it…..if we get it and let it teach us we will become the clearer, less burdened and stronger for it.

Ceres grief at the loss of her soul child, Persephone, gave her the unbending determination to find her daughter and bring her back, a mother’s instinct – symbolically, out of her journey (Earths emergence from the last Ice Age, and the myth we encountered at the Dharma Moon) our new seasonal experience through nature of the dance between light and dark emerged, and with it our agricultural relationship to the land and the fertility cycle. We can begin to put the pieces together again on this eclipse……remember Her connection with the Mysteries…….

Do you doubt it?! How is it that the planets provide us with a  synchronistic and cosmic reflection of this unfolding reality….well, how about, this is the very thing that the cosmos wants us to become aware of – if the past and the future are also present in the present, then we live in one great divining self-reflective consciousness that is witnessing itself becoming in eternity……here comes the new reality! And as fledglings this is also a vulnerable time……

We can be swept away with realisiation of just how much of the shit that is flying around is of our own mis-guided creation – grief and soul loss are serious issues…..take a step back and take a few deep breaths, help is at hand.

Mars is joined by asteroid Euridike in mid Taurus and they are quintile Chiron in early Pisces, a positive and creative aspect. Euridice (‘she whose justice spreads widely’) reflects the soul loss back to us, the result (the myth tells us) of snake-bite in an unconscious moment of ecstacy, and her story with Orpheus carries the warning ‘pay attention, do not doubt – hold fast to your intent, focus, carry the intent of the return through – and don’t look back!’ The latter is just what Euridice’s lover Oprheus did and he lost her to the underworld as a result. Chiron’s role will be to help us live ‘in the wound’ so that it can be healed and here the wound is reclaiming our ancestral souls – we have to go, like Orpheus, to the roots to do so. As a mentor once said ‘the juice is in the tragedy’! We will come back to this story when we look at the Uranus Pluto square off in a future post….

……in a waxing sextile to Ceres we find Venus entering the last decan of Taurus conjunct asteroid Hephaistos, the master smithy whose ax split Zeus head so releasing Athena – the means to release and realise our higher mind and bring earth-wisdom to bear, to craft the medicine (Venus is also in a waning quintile to Chiron). Further on in Taurus, Mercury conjunct asteroid Hecate is squaring up to Neptune – that crone wisdom helps this eclipse become communicated through Mercury’s interventions in the dreamtime. We are, they remind us, getting into serious business here and when Chiron goes retro Mercury will be square the shaman too. Hecate cannot be phased by the urgency of the moment, and it is as well that Chiron’s healing gifts are given a stellar boost here that will lend us the very confidence we need in our ‘left field’ creativity as a healing tool – here are our means for dealing with the challenge of healing our collective wound from within. Life as Art. Chiron’s grounded knowing of ‘Death as our advisor’ releases us from fear – how else can we wise up to our limitations, and understand that sublimation of ego to Life leads us towards embodiment of wisdom. Chiron conjunct fixed star Deneb Adige is atavistic, cunning, clever quick-wittedness and creativity in service to healing and bridging the worlds. Let us not forget that Chiron is the ‘Rainbow Bridge’ to the outer planets (3) – he makes of Mars the spiritual warrior, he emphasises Venus love of the sensual in appreciating our creations and working with nature as a gateway to the other worlds, and he meets Mercury with the creative facility to open the mind to greater knowing as we swim out to meet the stars on the oceanic tides of the Solar plane beyond this eclipse….

…..well, Eckhart has a point, we might well be tadpoles in a very big pond, and, we really are in for one hell of a ride either way – however, perhaps the whole point is that once we make those preparations, for grace and love to enter, even though transformation happens ‘to us’ it is in allowing and enabling this to really happen that we realise our true co-creative role and become the transformation, as it is happening, finally coming home to the cosmos.

The flow of time becomes the ever changing present, a time-out-of-time opened up within this by this first eclipse – and, as Neptunian waves of consciousness flood the field, we turn inwards to find that there are no boundaries…..in that place fear falls away, we are no longer crucified on the cross of time, no longer torn apart by dualism….and as Terence McKenna once famously said “the further in you go, the bigger it gets!” Best not forget our sense of humour then…..

The holographic universe opens through the everpresent Flower of Life in our hearts – each point within the matrix knowing each other point, all contained within the one, endlessly enfolding and expanding along the fractal scale of the space-time continuum – our chance is right here, a break between the breakers, a rip tide in time that will take us out on a journey into the heart of mystery beneath the Black Sun of the 5th World.

Fire Returns to the Origin

This month sees the great changes in the world reaching down to root level – we are entering a phase of high resolution transformation in which the challenges of the physical will ask us to tap into our inner resources with pragmatic focus. The pull of the mundane is strong throughout this month so inner balance and adaptation of our medicines to the times will help us to remain centered within the heart, and we will need this as the the very fabric of the matrix is now beginning to shift with kaleidoscopic energy. Everything counts, so…..   

Now in the flow, the April New Moon is a way marker amidst the great changes and picks up on the March astral influences, carries them forward and stimulates us into taking up the roles we are each called to with renewed commitiment and dedication. Emergent energy, carrying the ‘I Am’ affirmation from Aries, almost seems to engulf this Moon. Within the quickfire and intense process that we are now seeing, the world has been shaken by recent events in the Mid-East and Japan – and what is the best way to respond? Perhaps we should ask the Powerbrokers who continue to wield the ugly sword of righteous murder, against the people and against Nature, in the name of democracy and profit – perhaps not, we are no longer pawns in their game; rather, ask the courageous workers of Japan who have staked their lives on saving the country from nuclear meltdown. And this while the Ring of Fire is reverberating with quakes on a daily basis, many in the 4.5 to 6.5 range, many around Honshu and the Asian Pacific faultline – Earth is not to be ignored in the face of political unrest and usury. She will have her say……

We begin this report with the mundane view because it is going to be key to how we bring our personal paths to bear within this Moon cycle….although the New Moon opens a new cycle it is the cycle itself, especially in its first two quarters, that will determine how we percieve our course for the month. Patience and compassion are called for, looking to the inner wisdom that is growing within; at the Full Moon we will return to review where we stand and take our work further forward…….as much apparent lunacy as there is in the world, it is going to highten our balanced sense of self, our purposefulness within the world. And, talking of lunacy…….

Uranus has been joined by Mars in the second degree of Aries – and, lo! the Koran burning Pastor is in denial of the consequences. When Mars conjuncts with Uranus we get an energy that must find some form of expression – it is most dangerous when it finds its lowest form, can manifest as shock tactic fundamental extremism and will do so with unpredictable consequences, apart from the fact that we know it will be provocative to say the least. If these two planets working together find the high side of expression Uranus and Mars can empower us with radical inventiveness and inspire new paths of manifestation for spontaneous acts of courage, a pragmatic counter to the aggressive and irrational unconscious drives of its low side. On 2º Aries Uranus conjunct Mars brings a cold edge to the Uranian energy, and challenges us to look without flinching at the effects that acts of aggression have in the world. The Sabian symbol for this degree is ‘Objective Consciousness’, hard core facts and seperation from feeling. While it is an energy instilled in every soldier and its intrinsic denial is behind every case of PTSD emerging from the war zone, it is also intrinsic to the symptoms of the deeper wound, and reading the symptoms is as much a part of our healing as working from the heart. We cannot ignore its effects, especially now……will governments take responsibility? Whether they do or not, it will be up to us to step up to our calling and, as individuals, work together to make the difference. Re-volution reaches far beyond our politics.

In the mundane, Saturn’s face-off with Jupiter continues to be triggered by the New Moon, as if to prolong the interrogation of our ethical and moral limitations. We know that governments cannot continue to act in the name of Democracy while blowing up the opposition, and this energy is also expressed in the lower vibration of Saturn and Jupiter. The forces of containment vieing with the forces of expansion with heavy effect. The higher vibration shows us that, in reality, the two are seeking a way of working together, however, with the New Moon activating the Jupiterian end of this pervasive stand-off, we may well see the transformative side of Jupiter coming through as pressure builds on the contollers and overlords from within. The people are inflammed with growing spiritualised desire to see change at the root, and this Moon will make sure that this is seeded – it is an expression of Venus in Pisces sextile Pluto, now vacillating in early Capricorn. It is at the heart of the courage being shown in Japan. It brings the radical edge of compassion into the world. When Masaru Emoto called the world to prayer, to ask for forgiveness from, express gratitude towards and to seek healing for the Waters, he was expressing the high side of Saturn and Jupiter, the water crystals manifesting the sacred geometry of the heart, toned by feeling and spirit. There is a great teaching in this – we do not need to wait for the call to work with the medicine in this way…….if we make such acts an integral part of our everyday life Life will be transformed……

The benific side of Saturn will fund us with support in this, especially if we are able to capitalise on the Mercury retrograde energies of inward focus and communing with the spirits. We know that the dangers from focusing through his low side are present as well – with behind the scenes strategising and covert agenda’s that seek to maintain control. However, we may be able to see this at work, to see through the deceptions, if we hold to the center and utilise our sacred point of view, our ‘seeing’. For example, we may observe a change in policy and shift of focus if the US government goes into shutdown on April 8th when interim budget cuts run out of time. Mercury retrograde will square US Mercury, challenging open communications, and the Moon on the US Descendant will signal the time for the people to claim their power in the face of the governments apparent inability to work on their behalf….but, I digress….and we must not forget that we are on the verge of a new spiritualisation of our reality.

Neptune is flowing into Pisces for a four months stay, and while he is there, ruling the mutable nature of our spirituality, we will get a taste of the great collective shift within that will truly begin to counterbalance all this tumult in the world – this will be our signal and the real work we have come into this time to engage with will take on new dimensions. The boundaries will open and if you have been diligent in holding to your heart center and witholding from reaction to or inculcating the influences of the mundane, you will discover that your own boundaries too have become radically changed – entering this zone of shifting boundaries and timelessness we will be able to take our innate spiritual powers to another level! Intent is everything in here, so too our center…..

The esoteric can be intoxicating, but, it can also be the gateway for fundamental healing. With Chiron already in Pisces we can expect Neptunes influence on Chiron to bring a pragmatic shamanic quality to the shift . Time dissolves as we enter the world of the shape-shifter – up pops the white rabbit and down the worm-hole we go …..

Nothing is quite as we expect it to be as we make that journey – the preparation began this Equinox when Uranus brought us to the gateway, shook its foundations and was followed by Jupiter pushing on the sacred portal that Saturn stands guarding – if we look at their opposition more from the esoteric we will see the doorway now opening. The polarising tension they have brought has sustained Uranus’ shockwaves – it is also like tightening a drumskin and raising its pitch, and this too now gives a clear mandate to bring our work in the world to a higher purpose – we can follow that beat.

So many of the above influences are calling us to stay with our feet firmly planted on our own ground, to work with our own innate wisdom; it is a personal response and we know that, individually, we will do so as one, fractals of the whole. While the planets fund us with cosmic energies for change our Earth is reminding us of the sacred nature of Nature. Neptunian influences are a foretaster. As Neptune enters Pisces ‘for good’, early next year, accessing the oceanic realms of the Dreamtime, our Earth will be showing us that our task is to fully realise our role as Keepers of the Sacred Garden and, as Rainbow Warriors of Peace, manifest the coming Fifth World from within. The prophecies have been preparing us for this – in the last decade our regard for them has changed, now we are collectively remembering – they were never just stories to be heard and wondered about; they are the deep source of our knowing, about our purpose and how to prepare – we will sadly miss José Argüilles’ visionary leadership and inspiration in helping us to wake up to them. There are many visionary leaders present with us in our times, but, right now it is up to us all to step into our own roles as leaders, each in the way most suited to us, and care for our personal medicines as we do so……the responsibility of the healer is also to maintain their own health, the more so now as Transformation emerges from within.

Our world is changing from within….the heavens are changing within – Change is our new Body – we are becoming transubstantial and, within ‘that which knows’, the elixir of our spiritual alchemy is reaching manifestation point. It is a crucial moment in the ongoing process of conscious global transformation – now the World Medicine we hold within must rest within the changing world without. Then we can entrain with the crystallising energies of Saturn while retaining the potential growth factor of Jupiter – timing is everything, so we do need to know when to wait and when to act.

We cannot anticipate how we will look to each other beyond this process, so the emphasis really is now in trusting our own personal transformation as the template for outer change, and there are energies in the heavens that will help us at this stage. In Pisces, Chiron conjunct Ceres, and Venus sextile Pluto in Capricorn, remind us that we are here to face the reality of our collective wounds and seperation from the natural cycles of Life, and that we can do this by being with Nature. Earth is funding the fundamental relationships we have with Nature with the transformative power of deep commitment and belonging. Once again, this is fundamental to our role as Keepers of the Garden of Earth. The cultural paradigms of the industrial world have taken us a long way from this deeper connection.

The higher vibrations of the planets also show us the way. Wisdom too can be the prerogative of Saturn and he can be very grounding with this – once we are able to overcome the stultifying effects of fear, his shadow is transformed into steadfast courage and dedication – he helps us earth. In Libra this becomes the power to form right relationship, and within our mandate, becomes the manifestation of unity with ‘all our relations’. But, we can find inspiration from the strength of the courageous workers at the Fukushima nuclear plant, the spirit of the Japanese people, their integrity and the outpouring of immense compassion that we are seeing emerge in response – Earth is speaking to us, it is real. It is clear, the Sacred Hoop must be restored. Jupiter expands the call and helps us raise the energy that will bring the medicine to bear. The New Moon seeds this energy within us and Mars brings Uranus the compelling fire of realisation that we are the Birds of Fire, the Warrior Guardians of our entry into the Fifth World. Neptune’s entry into Pisces signals the first wave of the spirit world merging with our own in consciousness, the timeless higher dimension that generates the sacred geometry of the Flower of Life within our true nature – sweet is the nectar that Hummingbird finds there, the Medicine of Joy – it knows no boundaries.

When time dissolves, the boundaries between things become maleable – all we know is at our center. This is the pathway of inner light – the emergent consciousness of the Goddess returning. Her intrinsic wisdom is manifest in all things and harmonises all within the one. We continue our daily lives through Her grace……she also carries an earthy knowing that will help us ground our mandate. For all the otherworldly nature of the shamanic shift it is the middle world we always return to……integration is our objective. Even at the heart of the storm the world assumes its customary dimensions, and we continue, infused with spirit. It is very much about being natural within the world. To close, some words from the Oracle will elucidate…..

Hexagram 36 of the Oracle of Changes contains this line in the commentary :
‘though one harmonizes with others, one is not influenced, and though one associates with others, one does not become clannish.’

What does it mean that ‘one does not become clannish’?

What is clannish reflects the varying patterns that exist within us and around us – we recognise our kinship with each other through this. And yet ‘though one harmonises with others, one is not influenced’ by the entrapment of energies within the mundane. Why build a world on difference when the nature of difference is change itself? It is like mistaking the burning wood for the fire…….wood, flame, ash and heat, it is all one.

This hexagram came up in response to a request for an overview for this Moon cycle. Its name is ‘Concealment of Illumination’ – it never ceases to amaze how this ancient oracle responds with timely and aposite advice – here it exactly mirrors the heavens and earth. The image contained within the hexagram is enlightenment hidden within difficulty. We move amongst the people without outward show of our inner illumination, yet following our seeing, we know each other. We know we cannot fight fire with fire, so we gently nurture the elixir we have generated, through concealment. In this way we can be broad in our perspective and adaptive in our responses, able to integrate within the masses. It means being discerning while being unobtrusive : ‘one is like the Sun, which is bright when it rises, but, also bright in secret when it has set.’ Fire returns to the Origin……

……the Black Sun of the Fifth World rises in the Raven’s eye, She blinks and the Wheel of Law becomes the Seeing Eye of Magic . At the heart of the storm all is still and the inner eye is filled with light…….as the seer wends the city streets, no outward show, ordinary to all, illumined in all…….

AN EQUINOX PRAYER : making medicine for the world

SOHA – the Equinox arrives with a radical call for balance – reality has brought us crashing into the present – Uranian energy has blasted into our midst and, as we, each in our own way, feel the field come alive with electrified awareness, we must now center in our heart – here is our soul purpose coming home….

Within our Solar system we are now enjoined with in an inexorable process – there is no going back and world events are bringing our most pertinent questions into sharp focus….how we feel is being emphasised by the energies of the Moon, at its most potent phase now, as near to Earth as it ever gets, its perigee – we are feeling our humanity as never before. And, just at the moment that the Moon is amplifying our feeling senses, here comes the dip before the big wave of Jupiter opposite Saturn……Saturn and Moon conjunct. But, before we backtrack a little and review how this fast forward process is now unfolding…first off, in keeping with the theme of ‘reviewing’ introduced in the previous post, a recap of the metaphysics in motion here….

We have been refering to our ‘inner lens’, exemplified within the fractal matrix of the Flower of Life. Our ‘inner lens’ is the interface between our consciousness and the energetic field within which we live – when we focus our attention and intent through it we can be articulate with it and work with the influences of the energetics present within the field. This empowers us with the ability to balance and maintain balance within, the pre-requisit for making our thoughts and actions in the world that much more effective, bringing us into alignment with the cosmos in the process and so shifting the underlying emphasis to one of ‘working the medicine’. In all humility and respect to the great indigenous traditions, ‘medicine work’ is Owlmirror’s raison d’etre……anyone not interested in or giving credence to the metaphysical nature of reality please bring an open mind or look away now! Anyone interested in furthering the place of metaphysics and the ability to bring a healing balance into Life, ie ‘work with the medicines’, yeh, you guessed it, please bring an open mind and read on!!

For further clarity here is a reflection on one of the present underlying dynamics. Awareness is the medium through which the balance is maintained and, depending on our intent and our focus (where we place our intent), we can traverse the physical and affect the whole – ‘energy flows where attention goes’. The emotional body extends our awareness beyond the physical, into the 4D. Moons of this magnitude push the boundaries between the physical and emotional body towards intermeshing so that we become more integrated with the 4D energies of the archetypal realms – for some this brings lunacy and Moon madness, for others, especially if working consciously with the energy, it provides an extended range within our consciousness. With Saturn assisting, the process is intensified, becoming more focused, and the reflective, magnifying and focusing power of the inner lens is brought to a very highly integrated level of manifestation. Saturn and Moon re-focus our perceptions so that we are pulling the dimensions beyond the 3D more into consciousness – we become conscious conduits for levels (frequencies) of energy beyond the physical, a powerful tool for healing and creative work in the world. The beauty of this at present is that the planets are helping us with just the right tools for balance and healing, exactly when we need them most. This is doubly important in this context as we are now meeting, through the Sun and Uranus, with the energies present in the 0 point in tropical Aries. And, just to note, tropical readings work through the archetypal and interface, especially in our current era, through the 4D……..they apply best to human consciousness and the motivating power of our emotions, hence their use here….so, lets get the juice…..

Here is the planetary process : Sun and Uranus are in closing conjunct by 40 minutes arc either side of the Aries point. By the time the Sun enters Aries at equinox, just under four hours later, this gap will have closed to 30 minutes arc – this is a quickening energy. Also at the exact equinox time the Moon will have moved off the Saturn conjunct and be coming into within one degree of opposition with Mercury who is in the 19th degree of Aries. Bringing in the two other players in the field who are directly feeding these energies here, Jupiter is coming into opposition with Saturn, by 2º30’ at equinox moment, and Mars is coming into quincunx with the Moon by 2º54 at this moment – so lets keep in mind that all these energies are describing a very quickly evolving process – and, what is this process is telling us?

So to the symbolism. Through the Moon Saturn conjunction we have a potent realisation of our emotive power in relating (Libra), and we either become sucked into and involved in these energies, which can manifest as grief and be felt as depression, pressure drop, or we transcend them and realise their motivating power through intent within awareness. Into this comes the building energies of the ingress, and the current aspects – first Sun+Uranus quindecile Moon.

Let us consult a great astrologer, Noel Tyl, on this : “The quindecile……suggests a burning point of focus, often a place of extreme concern and effort in the life, even to the point of upheaval, disruption and obsessive mania.””. Sun+Uranus energises the moment with a blast of newly en-spirited energy from Aries/Pisces cusp, brings us to the realisation that for all the empowering drives of our technology and culture, we cannot ignore the consequences of our actions. We create our own Karma and, collectively, we know that our old patterns must change – while the Moon Saturn conjunct is a moment of hiatus the Sun Uranus conjunct can be experienced as epiphany and realisation. Here is the point of the Zen slap coming home!

Mars pushes the point further from the last decan of Pisces – there can be no doubt about how deeply our ways and view of the world need to change. Mars in quincunx to the Moon is a further compelling energy – quincunx is between the trine aspect and the opposition and brings the strength of the constant flowing energies of the trine aspect to a pitch as it approaches opposition – this is self evident in the world. War (Mars in his lower frequency) is not the answer…and we can all see how this is becoming so much the methodology of the old order….healing the wounds of war is Mars higher purpose – combined, these energies are intense, and we must re-balance and raise our awareness to a higher level…there is help at hand.

Mercury opposes Saturn and Moon, delivering motivated and deeply felt insight with hightened accuity, we will be unusually conscious of our unity – this asks “what is on your mind – getting real or resisting the truth”? “Remember”, Mercury says, “we are all connected.” And, in doing so he prepares us for Jupiter opposing Saturn – the energies rise further and here is our great opportunity. If ever there was a moment when the planetary matrix presented us with an opportunity for release from the restrictive ‘power-over’ regimes of the old world order, this is it. We can evolve through our unrealised potential, that which has been supressed for so long……and we know that this is what we are here to do.

And here we come back to the heart….the matrix of the Flower of Life is encoded within our hearts and more on this below…..

Uranus ingress at 0º Aries took us back to the 9 month initiation point, injecting lightning into our Earth matrix, asking us to review our path while shifting us into a new level of integration, away from the gravitational and towards the Electro-magnetic spectrum, a re-balancing corrective. Now, days later, we are taken back to a subsequent point, exactly six months ago as Sun brings conscious drive to the matrix, just as we entrain the Moon Saturn impulse and carry it forward……how do we work with this? For more depth on how we achieve this we need to go back to that Sabian symbol for the degree on which Moon conjuncts Saturn, at 14.58º Libra.

We have been here before, on the last equinox, at New Moon, the exact same degree, and the Sabian symbol at that time opened our whole focus onto the fecundating power of restoring our inner balance, of our right and left hemispheres, our deeper, intuitive and seeing self balancing the structured functionality of our Saturnian world. This awareness emerged from the dreamtime like a newly fertilised spiritual embryo. The intervening time has seen us carry the dreamtime energies forward – our inner process, clearing away our aquired conditioning while our awareness grows. The embryo has matured in this and become self functioning, born anew. This is our emergent global consciousness of which our own consciousness is a fractal – the qualities of our personal awareness affect what we experience. With this awareness now in the world we have the impetus at this time to make all the changes that we initiated within this process resonate with incredible consequence throughout the world – and, it should be obvious by now, that for all the suffering we have endured and do now, our Earth will make it clear that this is not an arbitray plan for a renegade species….can we be audacious enough to say that we are ‘now on track’ with the plan?….this can only be truthfully answered on an individual basis, and that is why our personal work is so important – we, each of us, are the fractal of the whole that makes the difference….so, if we can answer in the affirmative, we can say unequivocally that ”we are the ones we have been waiting for”……

“PHASE 195 (LIBRA 15°): CIRCULAR PATHS.

KEYNOTE: Coming to terms with the inevitability of establishing steady rhythms of social activity.

In his early course, “Symbolical Astrology,” Marc Jones sought to concretize this abstract image by speaking of “machinery parts, new and circular.” It is far better, however, to face the image in its most general sense, as he himself did later on. It is because everyday activities, whether in the home or in business, inevitably tend to repeat themselves in circular fashion that it is necessary for the individual to have rest times during which he can be released from repetitive patterns. It is only when the individual has become fully attuned to, and in a sense identified with the vast planetary and cosmic rhythms of the universe, and thus free from emotional and group tensions, that he can act serenely and at peace along “circular paths.”

At this last stage of the thirty-ninth sequence of five symbols we find an abstract image which can be interpreted in a positive or negative manner. We deal with repetitive activity; but that activity may either bind or free the consciousness of the actor. It can mean BOREDOM or TRANSPERSONAL PEACE in action.”

In Nature ‘circular paths’ are expressed as spiraling energy. In the downward spiral “boredom” can be read as the path of the Saturnian strictures of the world, the oppressive regimes, political blinkers, cultural miasms and fear based economics of scarcity, of the ‘haves and have nots’ symptom of this, of our disconnection with Nature, our own and the Earths. In the ascending spiral “transpersonal peace in action” can be read as the heart centered power of our consciousness to change the world, acting from within the universal matrix, consciously embodied in the Flower of Life – when we compared the charts for the Dalai Lama and China in “Divining The Tibet Solution” we alluded to the qualities of mind that would aid and abet us in this. Compassion is an active force that emanates from embodying this….Neptune on the cusp of Pisces can aid us further.

With Neptune and Ceres conjunct on this Piscean ingress point at Equinox our Earth spreads her corrective message of re-balancing far and wide. We are called to both recognise our soul path and bring ourselves back into balance with the cycles of nature, birth-death-rebirth. Earth is our gateway to spiritual experience of existance. This is a further confirmation that the rising energies described above have a crucial edge, symbolised through Ceres sickle – she also brings the medicines of the poppy with her and these indicate a sacrament in communion with the divine; but, the power of this sacrament is such that we are asked to maintain our intent and focus; we have a higher purpose – this is our purposeful task of “planting Lotuses in the Fire”, ‘being in the world and acting efficiently in the world without being coerced by the influences of the world’.

When we meditate we prepare ourselves at the most fundamental level for our work in the everyday – we entrain with the divine. With the balance and clarity this brings our focus is sublimated to the higher purpose, and when we center on our breath cycle, we stabilise this intent and can bring its focus into the heart – here we find our personal interface with the divine matrix of manifestation – it is efflorescent with energy. We make medicine through embodying the Lotus…..

Briefly, it aids us in purifying our entire being and embodying the active power of compassion – there are many traditions that offer other chants, prayers and mantra’s that will work just as well – you have the inner knowledge of what will work best for you. The Green Tara mantra has been invoked here as a direct response to the Neptune Ceres conjunction – it corresponds to this energy when these two celestial bodies are engaged at their highest level of purpose within the circumstances unfolding in the world. As Neptune enters tropical Pisces we can carry this prayer, the energy of this mantra, the higher intent of this unified celestial energy, into our worldy path – Planting Lotuses in the Fire…….

The Fire is also present in our hearts – our hearts generate an electro-magnetic field that is 5,000 times greater than that of the brain – this is our inner Sun, and it could be said that our brain is to the heart as our Earth is to the Sun – now, that is something worth meditating on! This EM field embodies the exact same toroidal geometry that is also present in stars, galaxies, our Earth, our atoms and within the Flower of Life – Nature is wise…..

Why would we unite a Kabbalistic symbol with a Buddhist within a western energetic understanding – the answer must surely be in the question. Our world is replete with traditions that embody the divine within the human world, living indigenous traditions, the gifts of our ancestors. We cannot deny our current scientific understanding – the imperative is to listen to and embrace all – pre-judgement works against us. When we recognise that we have a commonality within all these understandings we also encourage a unity that encompasses and resolves our differences within our lives – we are waking to the necessity of this realisation on a constant basis now. There can be no more seperation – it is a source of great joy to realise how the multifaceted nature of our deep indigenous nature is expressed with such brilliant diversity, while essentially embodying the same aspirations.

The great transformation has begun…..we have much work to do. With our brothers and sisters in Japan so much in our minds, with continued upheaval and challenges the world over, and with the ‘old order’ insistently pursuing the same old paths, let us unite from the heart and make medicine for the world…..

“What an exciting life we live”, thought Moomintroll. “Everything could be turned upside down in a moment – for no apparent reason whatsoever”……(1) Amongst the adventures that Tove Jansson’s lovable Moomins lived through were the Great Flood and the coming of a fiery Comet to Moomin Valley…..her stories are a wonderful mirror, and, who knows, she could well have been telling us something! Here are a few more provocative thoughts to consider….

Observations are showing us that our Solar system is now entering an area of space within the outer reaches of the galaxy that has physical and energetic quaities that no human has ever witnessed in our planetary system’s locality before. We are also percieving utterly immense new energy forms above the poles of the galactic hub that do not obey the laws of physics according to the gravitational/black hole model. The gravitational model upon which we base our most entrenched astro-physics paradigms is being radically challenged by the emergent ‘electric’ model. Highlighted by the nature of the increasing influence of solar and galactic energies upon our Earth, this is a model that speaks of simultaneity, interconnectedness and provides the basis for a new cosmology of consciousness. It is also providing explanations for the missing dark matter and energy that permeates our universe, throwing light on the continuous interdependant nature of life across time and space. The Sun’s prolonged dormancy has been broken by a spectacular display of plasma plumes, with increasing sun-spot , solar flare and Coronal Mass Ejection activity – and the solar maximum has not yet peaked; NASA is sending out warnings of complete disruption to communications and power systems on earth. The Earths magnetic poles are shifting with speed, the North faster than the South, and its electro-magnetic field is weakening, as is the Sun’s – we can see the same effect at work across the unified field of the solar system. A very large ‘planetary’ object has been observed within the Ort Cloud at the edge of our solar system; some believe it to be a Brown Dwarf, an unrealised star with not enough mass to ignite, now with a solid center – others hold that it is a super massive gas giant like Jupiter, only, at least twice the diameter – such an object will have a strong influence on the planetary field – we will feel the effects. Plasma bursts that have a degree of power normally associated with stellar phenomenon are being observed issuing from above thunderstorms. Spiral aurora, cloud patterns unlike any previously recorded are being observed globally. It gets more bizarre….sink holes, some immense within polar ice and others unusualy sheer sided within the earth’s surface, are appearing, apparently randomly. Luminous entities are being captured on film that reveal intelligent behaviour and internal organic structure, signs of ‘other-dimensional’ life co-existant with our earth plane. All these have been known of for some time – yet, their presence has been supressed for many years….until now.

We will soon see how the electric model, as it becomes more fully grounded for us to work consciously with, opens our eyes to the presence of intersecting dimensions of reality – dimensional entities that inhabit further dimensions beyond the 3D world, some of which affect and feed off of our emotional bodies, others which aid and abet our evolution, are entering our consciousness and will force us to review our habitual ideas of just what is ‘real’ – these are however facts long known to indigenous, healing and esoteric communities. Our insistance upon hard empirical evidence has kept this a reality at arms length…this too is now changing with increasing pace. We live in ‘interesting times’…..

So, lets see what the stars are saying to us at the onset of the March lunation in Pisces.

With our readings focusing primarily on the lunation cycles over the last seven months the role of the Moon’s nodes is seen to be of high importance – we have witnessed a season of eclipses, particularly framed within the characteristics of and with reference to a most significant transit, Pluto transiting the North Node of the Moon – see ‘Pluto Rides the Dragon’s Head’. This transit is epoch making in its scope and prefigures the current upheavals and struggles to birth ourselves anew.

As we have been exploring at ‘Owlmirror’, the ongoing process described within these lunations has given us a template for action to work with and, as we do, the outer events that we see unfolding show us clearly where the stress falls…our inner work is in direct relation to the qualities we perceive within our experiences. The current March lunation brings the emphasis back to the process in a more subtle way this time, but, later in the year we will see the outer stresses of this process step-up as Pluto and Uranus square up through a prolonged period, and this too will change our perspectives on all that we are experiencing now. But, more of this later…..

First lets look at the planetary alignments now in process. The March lunation will take us through the equinoxial Full Moon, the Equinox itself and beyond – for, while this Moon has a presence of its own, it is its unfoldment through the complete lunation that reveals its meanings more fully – within this time frame are a number of key astrological events, not least of all the transit of the ‘awakener’ Uranus into tropical Aries.

The planets are presently strung out across the three final signs of the tropical zodiac, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces – only Saturn and Jupiter hang in the balance outside of this ‘freight-train’ stellium in the culminating quarter of the zodiac. In mid Libra and early Aries respectively we find the gravitational form-giving influence of Saturn at work on the collective, and Jupiter stimulating our individual involvement with a counter expansive energy – there is an inner tension that is working both ways in this, igniting and expanding our passions and drive while our attention is being pulled towards how the processes of change are crystalising. This is pushing from within on old structures. And this is a global influence….

…..If we view the solar system from above, as in a heliocentric chart, we see that Saturn and Jupiter are currently on opposite sides of the Sun. Saturn and Jupiter’s opposition across the Solar field is a powerful trigger for tectonic upheaval – this is a well known phenomenon, and we can expect this influence to prevail at least until mid to late April – at that time they will also come into opposition fully in the tropical zodiac. This in turn will bring their tectonic effects into the human realms. Collectively we can expect increasingly intense focus upon our global ‘body-politic’. We will be compelled to re-evalute our over-reaching lifestyles and face the facts. Let alone the geo-physical challenges, we know that our profit motives are defunct and misplaced, and ultimately do nothing for us as individuals, but, ultimately, serve only those at the top of the pyramid of power. This will be a softening up process that will allow the truly radical effects of Uranus squaring Pluto to fully have impact – and this influence will bring a true test in the ongoing re-structuring of our outer reality.

We do also need this powerful influence, to become free of the old paradigm….but, it will not be easy and uncertainty will increasingly be the halmark. But, its not all ‘bad’ news. Once Uranus enters Aries it will be accompanied by astounding insights and innovations as well – the degree to which we are able to ground these will be further tested by our ability to aspire and create while in the midst of devolutionary structural processess – this will be Saturn and Jupiter’s challenge and we will look further into this below.

With Jupiter now back in tropical Aries, he has also been triggering key astrological points of sensitivity that marked the onset of this seven month series of Moon cycles. These were initiated in August 2010, through the Cardinal Grand Cross and Jupiter’s conjunction with Uranus in the initial degrees of Aries. Most recently, just prior to his transit into tropical Aries, Jupiter has reverberated with quickening energy the solstice eclipse point in the last degree of Sagittarius. We have seen the radical expansion of revolution in the Middle East through this time of Jupiter’s re-catalysing influence. Uranus, now on the verge of transit back into Aries, is also currently squaring the December solstice eclipse point – this too is a powerful stimulant and has primed the field for the Moon’s North Node transiting into Sagittarius, occuring as this article is posted. We could see flash-points in the Mid-East.

The 2010 solstice eclipse also gave us a window of opportunity to engage with the subtle realms, bring our alignment with the greater forces of the cosmos into the personal realms and to begin resonating together with their creative force – regardless of whether we have been working with this consciously or not, the influences at work have truly opened the gateway that we described in ‘Howling Moon’.

What are the nodes telling us now as they enter the Sagittarius/Gemini axis? Our philosophy for living and our inter-relatedness with the Earth and each other are coming to the fore – as a natural consequence of the current events in the world, as well as through the cosmic energising of our consciousness. This ‘mirroring’ within awareness will come up repeatedly within this lunation. This suggests major global idealogical shifts over the next year, and given Neptune’s upcoming transit into tropical Pisces, we should both feel and see a spiritual shift within our forward vision, as well as in the stress points that expose their unfolding. Much of the action that has been stimulating the North Node will now shift and our attention will be drawn towards the South Node as the inner planets transit this sensitive point. We will be asked to bring our innate abilities to bear while jetisoning all that no longer serves us. A karmic process.

Pluto’s influence continues to uproot all that stands in the way of this, especially within the political power field. He is slow moving in early Capricorn, and will leave no stone unturned. Power is being released as we sweep away the old structures and their blocking/containing effects and return to original form and forming. The form that we give to this power release will be determined to a large extent by the resistance to change thrown up by those in the human realms who seek to hold onto the old political forms that contain ‘power’; but, their grip on us is loosening! Ours is the challenge to manage the power we are naturally invested with wisely. We must learn new respect for Nature from this, quit our commodifying and reckless devouring of ‘natural resources’. Earth’s empowering gifts can no longer be seen as dead matter…we destroy ourselves if we continue with this mentality.

Pluto’s effects will accordingly continue to ‘raise the ground’ beneath the power brokers in the long run, continue to revolutionise ‘the people’s’ empowerment. For the ‘Elite‘ the use of Disaster Management will become an increasing imperative and question, and this itself is already putting communities and nations under great stress. Pluto, Saturn and Jupiter are at work in this together. Western leaders are striving to sound more and more grandiose, both idealistic and pragmatic as they respond, maneuvering for position – ever the political opportunists, they know that the bigger the hiatus, the more opportunity for control and profit, and we can be sure that they are planning behind the scenes, waiting to bring the forces and mechanisms of the old order to bear upon the newly emerging picture, unless we can persuade them otherwise. Historically, we can see that this kind of negative political reaction has become embedded as movement towards use of force as the counter to upheaval – at worst the military state is its natural end, Saturnine in the extreme. All eyes are on Libya. Yet, this too must now change – for, intervention through political martial force can no longer sustain or be sustained by the power base without further polarising it in relation to ‘the people’ – and, we know they will fail if they do so, for the strength of ‘the People’s’ awareness and passion can no longer be denied or contained – here is Jupiter at work. No matter which nation, no matter what the nation’s politic, ‘usury’ and ‘power-over’ is being exposed for what it is – Pluto will not be denied! The political and economic climate, like our weather patterns and Earth’s geo-physical activity, has, as the stars have been telling us, become ‘predictably unstable’ and growing in strength of influence as a result. Greater powers are at work that supercede political dominance and have the capacity to over-ride such control reflexes.

The natural consequence of all these highly stressed and seemingly chaotic qualities, and our experience of them, is that the emotional body of the planet is becoming filled out and charged up with our personal and collective emotional energetic responses. This is activating the 4th dimensional matrix, the emotive field that links us into the archetypal realms, and with this we will find reality taking on new dimensions, as we have indicated above. There are two esoteric functions at work in this; the one opens us to greater perception beyond the physical, the other opens us to greater influence from both the inhabitants of the 4th dimension as well as from the incoming energies from the 5th and beyond. Our inner work has been preparing us for this and our ‘seeing’ eyes will enable us to discern their influence the more effectively. Those who are paying attention to these aspects of the ongoing process, taking personal responsibility for working with it, will experience the outer events quite differently from those who have not – however, compassion will enable us to make the transition together…..the planets at this New Moon also remind us of where this will be most needed.

Compassion, the most pragmatic form of Love, can help us transmute the emotional field to a higher order and stabilise the process. It is an extention of the inner process outwards, bringing healing and reconciliation. This is not a superficial process, a mundane diagnostic curative – compassion must first be developed and have its roots within. We will find ourselves funded within this process from the Piscean realms both through this lunation and beyond, but, more on this in a moment.

Venus stands at the mid-point between Chiron and Pluto. And, Mars sextiles Pluto to add to the power of the corrective; so Venus holds the balance between revolution and healing, bringing the question of what we value most to the fore. We cannot buy our way out of our current dis-ease; and, the health of our relationship with wealth is in direct proportion to our power to carry the change through. Individual empowerment when united collectively creates an unstoppable force – but, we must be careful not to slip back into our old ways.

Venus amidst Chiron and Pluto also reminds us that we know that the world banking system is on the brink and have full awareness of the underhand ways in which we have been sucked dry by debt, false securities and egotistical manipulation at leadership level. Economies have been built upon this paradigm of subversive evaluation while we continue to suffer at large – it has produced widening seperation and inequality where there needs be none and is essentially competative and patriarchal in nature. The wounds of patriarchal dominance must now be healed. We need to bring ‘Soul’ back into exchange, and that means balance within giving and receiving – balance here means equality and, with Venus, equality also means a true appreciation of value. Men can no longer hold court to the exclusion of women. Venus in Aquarius disseminates this as a collective conscious potential for change.

Neptune sextiles the North node and, working independantly of Uranus, spiritualises our collective ‘soul’s purpose’ – an important function that will be given powerful assistance when Neptune enters tropical Pisces two days after the April New Moon…so, more on this at that time. For now, the Neptunian Piscean influence augers in an all or nothing revision of our materialistic paradigm. This will also help balance the ‘Eastern’ influence with the ‘Western’, and not only in the spiritual sense. It should be remembered that it is primarily the Western paradigm that is at the root of our problems – half a millenia of Western expansion and dominance within the world is now being undone.

Either side of the March New moon we find Mars and Mercury. Mars has already been mentioned in relation to the New Moon but the inner planets are swapping places through this complete lunation, with Mars very close to Mercury’s NM degree when the FM arrives. Mercury has largely been a behind the scenes player since the solstice eclipse – the inner eye that is both capable of seeing all from a clandestine vantage point, and which equally cannot be fooled through double dealing and turning the tables. Ever the diviner’s ally we should look to Mercury to spill the beans when he opposes Saturn on the Full Moon – then he will open the way for Jupiter to amplify and broadcast what he has found out. Jupiter and Mercury will resonate with the Nodal shift into Sagittarius and Gemini.

Mercury, however, brings us back within this ongoing process to Saturn in mid Libra. Now in a prolonged retrograde phase, the old patriarch is going to express inner tensions where rigidity prevails. Quincunx the March New Moon this will add a compulsive flavour to our desire to see the balance tip in our collective favour, new partnerships initiated – it makes a needs must energy of the subtle inner work we are now called to address with this New Moon.

We find the New Moon embedded within the influence of the ‘freight-train’ stellium, but, in widening 6 degree conjunct to both Mercury and Mars, exact on their mid-point, this lunation holds a balance of their energies. Mutable Piscean influence may be hightened by Mercury, may open routes of perception beyond the norm, spiritual manifestations and communications; Mars may pull our attention away, into the drama unfolding around us and, as such we will miss the inner meaning of the events, any psychic connections remaining in the unconscious. If combined within these energies will magnify our perceptive abilities – on a personal level we can expect vivid intentional dreaming, personal revelations and uncanny insights…..and this is where Mercury’s influence comes into focus through this New Moon. Mercury is also associated with Hermes and hermetic lore…..the initiate embodies this lore through disciplined inner work within developmental experience.

……this quote from ‘The Emerald Tablet of Hermes Trismegistus’ has become familiar to us all in truncated form – ’as above, so below’, a talismanic maxim for astrologers and esotericists alike. The editing of the original is itself a subtle ruse, very pertinent to the new lunation now opening through March – through this editing the maxim itself has become a decoy, drawing our attention to the effects, hiding the inner process……our challenge, as it is for the initiate, is to remain with the inner process, it’s ‘purposefulness’ within our inter-connectedness, to embody the ‘One Thing’. Reading (‘seeing’) the outer will also reveal the inner. Hermes/Mercury will not let us be distracted any more…..

With the Moon’s South Node now entering Gemini Mercury will be key in initiating the retrieval of our indigenous, inherent and inherited esoteric knowledge and abilities and renewing them in the ‘now’. This is fully supported by this lunation. The symbol of the inner meaning here is an ancient mirror, a lens of perception, hidden, waiting to be unearthed from within the bedrock of our collective psyche. It represents awakened awareness, inner sight empowered through initiatic experience. It gives us access to unity within consciousness and offers awareness as the active agency of change – that which we percieve we change, as every quantum physicist and initiate knows. Intent becomes key, so, managing our emotions also. With clarity, however, we can now work with the knowledge that ‘energy flows where attention goes’, and this too will be key to our collective evolution, how we manifest our innate power. And, attention requires intent for this to become focused.

In the midst of such radical change the nodal shift becomes key here. The emergence of a ‘new paradigm’ has long been touted as a shamanic, spiritual shift. When Neptune and Ceres meet on the March Full Moon this will auger in the reality of this shift and, when Neptune enters tropical Pisces, following on Chirons heals, mid year, the shift will open collectively within. This Moon cycle asks us to hold our attention simultaneously with the unseen realms as the outer unfolds the effects of their increasing presence – here we come to the crux of the process, the emergence of the inner consciousness inherent within all Life. As archetypal as this may seem the full process, if we are to see it through, will call on us as a people, as a species, to accept and take responsibility for ensuring that every aspect and level of our presence on Earth be radically transformed. We know that we are here to fulfill something extra-ordinary…….

Yes, we can continue along our path of outer change, continue to hold to our old ways in the hope that something of their effectiveness will continue to serve us in the process and, if we confine ourselves to this alone, we will also find ourselves increasingly challenged as we do so. This need not be our path however – this lunation will help us find spirit within, at the heart. The renewal of our balanced way of living is totally necessary. When the Moon’s North Node aligns with the Galactic Center we will begin to fully understand why. Hermes has the message….we are all called to take heed.

In the long run our current state of change will seem more akin to a trail run! In the short term, our window of opportunity to prepare the ground on which the new can be solidly built runs from mid March through late October, coinciding with the last phase of the Mayan count that ends 28th October 2011. Beyond that, the period up until next year’s December solstice will be the window in which we have time to adjust our plans and begin laying the real foundations for our new world, this period coinciding with the Mayan count that ends 21st December 2012. After that we will truly have become the experiment – we will be in uncharted territory……

The Fire of Renewal

Fire – the energy of radical change. What do you see when you gaze on the picture below? Is it a scene of destruction, of accident and loss, that suggests war and the eradication of security? Would this be a true mirror for our own inner state, our traumas and fears? Do we feel distraught and upset in the face of this power, its wanton use – or does it speak to us of a people in harmony with the elements, with life and her cycles? We associate it with destructive energy, passions and a volatile temperament, fuel for our machine age and the heat of the Sun. It is feared and revered, sought after as power, as well as the source of comfort within our homes. It is the element that changes food for our consumption, inculcates culture, is at the root and development of our industrial revolution and, through this, furthered the enslavement of the populace to production, commodity and profit. Those that control it have, in our eyes, power to both determine and destroy, as well as suppress. We burn in fever,  burn off the calories, burn our bridges…..in so many ways we have fallen out of balanced relationship with Fire and we have shaped our relationship with this essential elemental force in ways that would be unrecognisable to our ancestors. But, thanks to our ancestors we also know how to work creatively with fire, feel it burning in our hearts, feeding the revolutionary passion that brings freedom and release. Take a moment to ‘see’….perhaps there is here more to this scene than meets the eye……and then, lets take a journey to meet with the ancestors and find out!

It is the cusp between astrological Ages – the Age of Gemini is giving way to the Age of Taurus. We are journeying back some 6.5 thousand years, and arriving in the land to the south and east of the Carpathians, closer on the shores of the Black Sea. The scene is night time, under a rising full Harvest Moon, and a bristling mantle of stars is spreading over us from horizon to horizon as the daylight fades. Yet, the air is rippling with heat and great clouds of sparks fly heavenwards in swirling plumes of intense fiery energy…..a whole village stands ablaze atop the low hill before us! Powerful cracks of exploding clay, thatch timbers and supporting posts resound against the constant roar of the inferno – hold fast to the vision for a moment though, for gathered around us below the scene are hundreds of people, chanting, singing and drumming, feasting and sharing the fruits of the Earth. Some hold beautiful small clay figures in their hands, out-stretched towards the flames, others letting their babies and children play with clay animals and simple versions of the little sacred dolls.

For, this is no accident or act of agression…..beneath the hill the people have set up a hearth with a healthy fire burning in a mound of glowing embers, set on a bed of old charcoal gathered from previous fires. Arranged in a circle around this are more small clay figures, just like the ones the people are holding, images of the Earth Mother. Some of this little Mothers are seated on minature thrones, others with their pointed legs stuck in the hot Earth, each casting a dancing shadow around the fire, echoing the people’s movements. The pungent aroma of fresh herbs fills the air as the elders, those blessed with a deeper understanding and memory, feed the fire – it is a time of both celebration and preparation, before the onset of the cold seasons, and the energy is high….within the fire are new images, figurines moulded during the day from fine river clay, the Earth mother’s body, blessed with the living waters, and brought to life through the people and the sacred fire. The people have initaited the sacred fire around which they now stand, taken a burning splint and, having banked up hay bales and logs around and within their earth houses, each at their own threshold they set their homes alight. The elders have overseen the whole ritual; for we are witnessing a sacred rite, repeated every 70 years or so, at Moonrise and marking the passing of the old ones, the key elders, bringing a renewal and cleansing to the land upon which they have made their homes……from here, once the flames have subsided, they will be re-building their village on the foundations of the old, using the fire hardened clay, of which the floors and walls of their thatched homes are made, to provide solid materials that connect them with the past while freeing them to live a new cycle. Generations will follow this sacred rite and it will give the anthropologists and archaeologists something quite extra-ordinary to puzzle over when their villages are unearthed in millenia to come. We have come to call the area within which rite was enacted the Burning House Horizon. But, by the time we bring this objective label to bear its connection with the Earth Mother will be mere speculation……..

We have given these people identities that correspond to the particular hallmarks of their culture, the places in which we have unearthed them, but, amongst many similar peoples they are one people, spread out over a vast region, tribal afiliations united by a common flowering cultural impulse. They are also known to us as the Danilo, the Vinca, the Karanovo, the Hamangia, the Gumelnita, the Petresti, the Tisza, the Lengyel, and the Cucuteni……

The Cucuteni were a people finding new ways of bringing the old forward and blending it with the new – rooted within the land, holding to their ancient knowledge from the Mesolithic while embracing the new Neolithic farming ways. They now know, with the many other tribal peoples who inhabit this region, that the world is changing through human ingenuity. A revolution has been spreading far and wide, carried on their stories, encouraged through connections from afar, through journeying by land, river and sea – more will come with the arrival of visitors. The hunting and gathering ways are ‘pastoralising’, technology and culture summoning the widespread advent of ‘settlement’ as a way of living with the Earth in Old Europe. They are creating clearings in the great forests, they cultivate grains, keep pigs and cattle, herd sheep and goats, and are both ahead of their time in developing peaceful ‘conurbations’, as well as retaining the most practical knowledge of the land, the vestiges of their intimate relationship with the Earth.

There are many stages of this human revolution and transition from the old to the new happening simultaneously across the land to the north of the inland seas, the Mediterranean and the Black Sea. Infact it was a global revolution, spread across time and continents. Those who have adopted the new ways in Old Europe are renowned crafts people, using metalwork, weaving, pottery, construction blended with an appreciation of aesthetic beauty and spirituality. This is a culture that has its roots in the times following the retreat of the ice, and even further back to the interglacial times, when the imagination of Earth and people were one. The influences within this culture can also be traced back to peoples who migrated from the south and east and, being close to some of the major inland water routes, as well as the Black Sea, the Cucuteni and their contemporaries would have seen the influx of those influences coming in from the ‘Europian’, ‘Asian’ and ‘Mediterranean’ peoples as being a sign of the expanding growth of human learning in the ways of the world.

The halmarks of these evolving Neolithic communities that have been identified by archaeologists and anthropologists include non-heirarchical social structures, carried over from hunter-gatherer communities. They were experiencing the first flowerings of communal self-determination, harnessing the power of the natural world through their inventive technologies. As archaeologist Steven Mithen suggests in his brilliant book ‘After the Ice’ (2), these were a people of ‘choice’, able to adapt within a stablising process – they also had the ‘pioneer’ spirit of their ancestors in their blood. Through the gathering of animals and humans in rooted communities they would experience the growth of affluence and the challenge of disease – they were sowing the seeds of our own experiences within the world.

The heart of the Cucuteni culture would beat strong for a thousand years, but, they were not the last of their kind. The stone houses, sacred buriel chambers and megalithic circles that emerged out of this time kept the sacred covenant with the Earth alive. They knew a balance in life that would eventually be swept away. With the advent of nomadic warrior people from the east, the new ‘People of the Horse’ would change everything. In the end the riders would bring warring and overturn the old ways, replacing them with a fearsome blend of warrior heirarchies and spirituality and chieftain led forces that had different affiliations, fed off of the land where-ever they went. These new people were strong of will, free to impose the will of their gods and spirits upon all whom they met with as they travelled. This would in turn see the onset of ‘masculine’ force as an increasingly martial, spiritual and ‘political’ power, the birth of our politic. The Old European ways would over millenia be swept away and the images of the Earth Mother would divide, her dark side, split away, becoming subverted, a source of deep misunderstanding that marks us still – yet, She will live on, ever deeper within us. The scars of these old wounds, still present within our instinctive memory, are deeply overlayed within the cultural psyche of European and Mediterranean peoples, kept alive even as the Age of Taurus began to give way to Aries, and Aries to Pisces through our emergent myths and stories. They found inner form amongst the divided, fractured and anthropomorphised inhabitants of the spiritual realms. These wounds have become embedded and keep the dynamic alive, remaining sore and sensitive even now. Under this influence our tribalism has become nationalistic and religious. And, while no direct connection is drawn here between this and the fate of the Cucuteni and their neighbours, the foundations of their culture offer us a glimpse of something even deeper within. We sense our roots with the Earth Mother – through them Fire can be seen as a healing and creative power within the circle of life – the severence and recovery of the covenant speaks to us. But, suddenly a shout resounds and pulls us out of our historical revery and back to the now smouldering foundations of the ‘cremated’ village……

The people are busy clearing and re-storing their village – in this there is no grief or remorse; Life and Death are understood as cyclical, implicit and integral to the ways and teachings of the world. Earth turns with the seasons and the Moon holds her rhythm, counted within the sky realms, held within the waters and womb cycles of both Earth and women. We do not know their personal names, but can hear the echoes of their speech within our own, within our place names, and, we know that they were able to express a profound sense of place within the greater whole – their art and artfulness speaks of this, and this itself is of great value to us, enshrining earthy appreciation and a sense of aesthetic beauty, the budding spirit of the Neolithic Taurean Age. It also offers a mirror for reflection upon our times, how far we have come, and from where….

Our times will see great change, and we now have the opportunity to learn something of value from our links with the past while we are ourselves transitioning forward – we can burn off the old structures that harbour dis-ease and decay, the wounds and errors of our past, and clearing away the ash that clouds our vision, re-birth our connection with Earth into new forms……

This article combines documented archaeological research and theories with the results of divinations, dreaming and imagination upon these, and, while it is speculative and goes well beyond established ‘scientific fact’, it is also equally plausible and offers a view of our ancestry that will hopefully inspire further dreamings and exploration…….it opens a thread that will look at some of the ancient connections we have with the elements in future articles.

PARALLAX MOON

 

Over the last 5 Moons we have been following the energies at work within a building process of transformation. In the outer world the focus has been on the exposure and purging of despotic and parasitic political entities, and we are now beginning to see how this can manifest upon a massive scale as North African and Middle Eastern nations fire up the wave of change. With the potential of the February Full Moon showing a strong building effect that is creating a rising tension and instability in the region, this is sure to spread – and, as we have been suggesting, this is an ongoing process. At the fullness of this Moon a crucial juncture is reached that will ask the question further; where do you stand? And this Full Moon reflects back to us how ‘we the people’ are becoming ripe with this potential within the world. As above, so below….but, with Neptune in the mix, there is bound to be more than meets the eye to the situation; politicians are ever the opportunists when a smoke screen is in the offing……

The People have clearly shown us that collectively this is potential movement of revolutionary proportions. The energy is infectious and is global. How it is met by the incumbant State of any country will reveal the hidden wounds pertinent to the people as ‘subjects of the State’. The same is true for all of us. And these differences will prove crucial to the larger picture and the relationships between each nation; there is a point at which that which is re-volutionary must become evolutionary, or risk devolving – there are strong indicators around the FM that it can go either way and, here, devolvment means confrontation. The sacred cow of democracy must also come under the spotlight, along with the succubus of tyranny; the strongholds of the western political ideal will be trying to steer our attention away from their own shadow tactics and strategies – Venus squaring Saturn will challenge us to bring courageous diplomacy to bear. No doubt the politicians will try to smooth over the wrinkles at home and and play the field with broad but essentially meaningless brushstrokes on the public canvas. We have already heard some pretty tasty sound-bites to this effect from the heads and foreign policy makers – no one can blind us to the fact that sovereignty and its relation to the will of the people are now a key issue, and that includes the question of self determination on both personal and collective fronts. We will not be distracted so easily…..

There are long term processes at work here and this recent phase has been essentially initiatic, an awakening. After building over the last 6 months and finding increasingly clear expression through the Lunar cycles, looking back we can now see how real the ‘Energy of Change within Awareness’ can be. With 5 Moons progressively manifesting on the end degree of each successive sign in the tropical zodiac, starting with 29º Aries in October, we have now seen the process build within and this current Moon brings us back to the Fire signs again – this Moon is at 29ºLeo. The energies have moved from the personal consciousness to the inter-personal – we are seeing the dynamic reflected in each other and this confirms the vision of change that it carries – this is the Leo imperative manifesting collectively.

The beginning of this process saw Jupiter and Uranus conjuncting in the first degrees of Aries, announcing the advent of the initiatic energy, expansive, awakening and unpredictable within the world. With the September Full Moon exact on the point at which Uranus and Jupiter were conjunct in August last year, we saw the process disseminate their intitiatic energies within the populace, a proto consciousness that needed to gestate through each Moon, until it could become consciously manifest.Their conjunction was accompanied by Saturn and Venus meeting in the early degrees of Libra, emphasising new ways of relating, new frames of reference – collectively this focus is now tied into the Lunar process and assists in grounding it as Venus in Capricorn squares Saturn in Libra on this Full Moon; in mutual reception they express crystalisation of appreciation and value. In our times a challenging path, but, one with a heart, should we be able to remain centered, earthed and awake. This will be our biggest challenge through this time and the nature of this challenge is particularly highlighted on this Full Moon. Here we go…….

A string of 6 celestial beings is strung across 12º of seperation, from Ceres at 18º Aquarius through to Chiron at 0º Pisces, and this stellium stands opposed to the Moon – discernment is everything here, for the energies run one into the other. A micro process is clearly visible in this as well. Rounded off to the nearest half-degree, Ceres is waning conjunct Mercury by 5.5º, Mercury is waxing conjunct Mars by 2.5º, Mars is waxing conjunct Neptune by 2º, Neptune is conjunct the Sun by 1º, Sun is conjunct Chiron by 1º. Lets not forget that revolutions often express the radical process of resolving the tensions between extreme opposites – and this is the critical juncture here – polarised choice. So lets look at the contrasting high and low sides of this…..

Chiron has been infusing the Neptunian mists with medicines for positive change for some time; he has helped us become aware of our collective wounds and disfunctions; although painful, this is very empowering in the personal sphere and, collectively, when empowered people come together change is inevitable. As he has transited into tropical Pisces he is leaving us with awareness and connectivity as potent and radicalising catalysts for positive changes of state, and he will now accentuate this on a spiritual level. Now in Pisces, Chiron will be finding and opening up the old spiritual wounds, so that the process can become holistic. Every ‘holy’ war has left a shadow, has marked the collective psyche with PTSD, scorching our spirits with the blackening fire of fear – divine retribution, at the hands of God and HIS enemies, gains its power over us from this…..and we know this is a fear function that has been used to control us; can it still have a hold on us, can we allow it?

But, from this diviner’s perspective, the major difference that Chiron in Pisces will make here is in highlighting the suffering and oppression that has been meted out on women and the divine feminine through ‘holy’ misogyny. We will see women play an increasingly powerful and deterministic role within the world, increasingly so as we address the need for balancing out the low side of this evolutionary process with the healing potential of the high. There has been decades of talk about the return of the Goddess – and, no matter how we experience Her individually, whether as divine feminine spirituality or the emergence of consciousness within matter, She will now return….and we will be returning to Her in dedicated upcoming posts very soon!

Sun conjuncts Neptune hours before this Full Moon, opens a broad field of collective consciousness, brings the visionary potential to light, infuses it with compassion – its a vision of what we could be, as well as what we might once have been. While the Sun’s drive is akin to a flood of light through this transit, there is more energy coming that will raise it to an even higher level of intensity and ignite the field with potential. For light here also read information…..and we have already long gone beyond the point where any one person, organisation or nation can keep up with exponential incoming flow of info!

Neptune can also drug us into following blindly, numbed by the trauma, such that we seek refuge in the embalming chemicals of religion, in culture as opiate, disempowered and dissociated, blinded by the light – a wide cocktail is available – Sun’s transit can also open our consciousness to miasm and spiritual dis-ease. ‘Religion as psychosis’ as Chiron reminds us. Will we now let it drive us out of our homes, our comfort zones, or even deeper into them, with spiritual napalm and ‘fear of the unseen enemy’ (remember ‘Reds under the bed’?)….? For religion also read politics.

Within the Neptunian field Mars spreads an emotive call for action with decisive intent – he can bring great strength and determination to the people, which may encourage leadership to emerge of a new kind, a spiritual warriorship.Mars can also inflame the psychosis to psychotic proportions, once again, cutting across the religious divide – and flood with Neptunian wildfire our collective body – make howling Berserkers of us at this Full Moon conjunct the martial star Regulus. Where the demonstrations gather there could now be an ongoing release in blind fury of a wholy unholy nature in the name of the “Holy” – across the borderlands too, we will have to see whether the highside prevails.

Mercury will fine tune the revolutionary vision, each to our own understanding, so that we can become articulate and communicate through it, as well as recieve its inner messages – the loop can close in this, the circuit come alive and Ceres can ground it and protect it. Mercury can also propogate dogma, just as well as information, to further the cause, ramp up the tensions, shred our nerves and drive us over the edge….we could loose our minds amongst the carnage, Fool to our Lear……

We need to pay heed of Ceres for she is Earth, the original matrix within which all our visions are realised. She feeds us. If you can fully ground and follow this vision within yourself you will experience Earth coming alive, within your own body, her consciousness within! If we are able to sustain this as our focus, the potential energy of this vision, as it is released in time, is going to be the most spectacular eruption of human potential this planet has seen. And if we do not pay heed and honour Her in this? Ceres also has immense and deeply seated power – dark Goddess energy. Remember, not even Hades could stand up to Ceres; be assured, she will look after her own, but, don’t mess with this Mother! She will simply move on into a new cycle, regardless, removing ALL that is incapable of entraining with her mind – so that she may begin anew, as she has so many times before. Time to pick up the heartbeat of the planet and get with the rhythm…..as we saw in ‘Earth in Transit’. There is no room for one sided New Age obsessions with the Light here – we must have grounded and very real balance and be able to integrate both light and shadow within, as one – further denial of the shadow will be the end of us!

And we must be aware now of whats coming up very soon beyond the current Moon cycle. Ceres will conjunct Neptune at the next Full Moon in March – and that one will be dominated by squares and oppositions in the chart. She will not stand idle, she remembers everything – we have collectively abused her body, we do still, and she has the whip-hand, holding the sickle, the corrective in all its awesome power that will break our hold, cut us down and force us into submission to a higher order of sanity – she already taught Pluto this lesson……she knows the meaning of Life and Death. As does the shaman, the well grounded and experienced individual, the indigenous tribe in touch with Her still…..we come back to Chiron……

Globally we are shifting and it all seems so much bigger than any one of us – so, how do you and I work with this if the devolutionary energies begin to kick in as well?

The energy of Mars can have a strong unconscious element to it – it can be very head down, or inflamed with its own rush, and being in a waxing conjunct to Neptune so close to this FM the danger is in ‘inflation’ of these uncounscious drives – mass hysteria and rioting would show the low side of our collective movements manifesting, a danger enhanced by the opposing Moon on fixed star Regulus; ‘Anger-watch’ is the word.

Decisive cutting of the ties that bind us to our personal and collective dependancies and addictions would express the high side. Here is a strong reminder of the importance of our inner work; it would suggest a strong desire for cleaning up our act, engaging with the ‘individuation’ process and individual empowerment and, experienced collectively, this could prove too great a force for any government to supress. When the people join in re-claiming their power, only greater supression and denial can contain it – the Military State – peaceful revolution is the answer. When Murbarak resigned the world held its breath as the military took over government in Egypt and we all wait to see what this will lead to…..don’t forget to breathe, it helps energy transference and circulation, metabolising the emotions safely, enabling us to root.

Neptune conjunct the Sun can flood our consciousness with communications and ideas that are undifferentiated and unintelligable – we can get seriously spaced out. We need to be well grounded in our bodies, have strong integrity and be able to discern what really has relevance for us individually to be able to work with this energy – again Regulus influence on this Moon can bring a higher vibration to our awareness. Regulus has strong associations not only with martial energies, but, with astrology and the occult too. As you may know, an ongoing theme at ‘Owlmirror’ recently has been opening our inner sight and developing the ‘seer’ capacity that we all have, to enable exactly this power of discernment to develop. This can become a latent and empowering force for us in these times. Its about raising awareness of our connectivity. And, we know that our connectivity can be cut at any time in the physical….especially when it threatens the ‘State’…..our connectivity within brings us to our own root, our original self, where we can ground our awareness. Meditation and becoming the ‘hollow bone’.

So, also, externally, the emphasis here is on allowing our inner sight to penetrate the veil of worldly affairs and look for the underlying message – we do need to read it to work with it….. as within so without :
“…..newly established democracies have had to contend with a past record of abuses that were endemic to the entire political system…..without some form of public acknowledgement and restitution, all social relationships remain contaminated by the corrupt dynamics of denial and secrecy”. (1)

There is also within all this a deeper energy at work that will carry us forward regardless. The question is, in which direction? It will be to our advantage to work with the positive as it brings an excitation within innate goodness, raising the energy of our awareness. Here this is aided and abetted by Mars and Mercury following through, rather than a dumbing down of our conscious drives. Neptune can also raise an ocean of compassion within us……

On an individual level, whether we are a ‘sensitive’ of any kind, or have been paying attention to our inner workings or not, we may also experience dreams that are vivid while we are in them, but which are hard to recall on awakening. We may feel as if we have been downloading in a constant stream while we are sleeping, but, do not have any clear idea of what this new information and knowing we are now in possession of is……this may well be necessary for the upcoming times, especially when Uranus squares up to Pluto. At that time we may have sudden flashes of memory that seem to have come from another time and place, but which seem totally pertinent to our needs. We may find immediate access to hithertoo unknown energy within our body available when we most need it. Synchronicities, deja vu and temporal re-location of our consciousness, strong and decisively deep insights, seeing through the veil and perceiving spirits that seem strangely familiar – receiving messages from loved ones who have passed on – all are possible and likely expressions of how this energy can work and become integrated, if not now, then as the ‘triggers’ arise. Chirons role here is key. The shaman cannot function without the spirit worlds, no matter the healing modality or its application – but, this is good news for us as the emergent consciousness that we are experiencing is deeply connected with spirit and Chironic empowerment is all about this connection. With Venus squaring Saturn, an imperative for diplomacy if ever there was, and Saturn sesqu-quadrate (135º) to Chiron, the ‘spiritually enlightened’ could play a key role in brokering and maintaining peaceful transition where conflicts arise. We will find that the only way forward is through the power of compassion and embodying the essential goodness of our original being.

Our changes are impacting on all levels. Jupiter’s square to Pluto signals a groundswell of transformation – power at the root. Pluto’s theme here is ongoing – any change must be deep and lasting, pragmatic to the point of no return. At the bottom line we must not let ourselves become distracted by the insidious presence of political will – it is the way in which we use our own will that matters. With Jupiter feeding in, the imperative becomes magnified – there is no point of return, we must now go forward and expand our re-volution into all spheres. The path to achieving this is to simplify and unify – harmony is the key. At the last New Moon we saw the Vestals bringing our collective soul path into their inner sanctum, for the restoration of balance, Externally we see the reminder that all leaders are in service to the people – knowing that we are here to lead ourselves within balance our imperative becomes the right to be led, in balance, by those who remember that they are ‘in service, in power, through the power we invest in them’.

Jupiter’s influence upon our collective destiny became most visible when he squared the Moon’s nodal axis recently – for, the deeper underlying energy is coming from this powerful axis. Why is it so powerful? The nodes concern soul-work, and when we pay attention to the trajectory upon which this work takes us we strengthen ourselves, an absolute essential for any kind of striving, whether birth, growth or struggle. But, more importantly still, we are connected within this path with what Jungian psychoanalyst and Cantadora (hereditory keeper of the old stories) Clarissa Pinkola Estes describes as Numen – “…a greatness that rests at the center of the psyche and yet is greater than the whole of the psyche.” (2). Jupiter has enabled us to percieve our greatness as an expression of our collective soul path and expand it into the world – first Tunisia then Egypt responded through this transit. It goes on with Yemen, Burma, Thailand, Algeria, Bahrain – countries the world over demonstrating how this energy works….ultimately, within, it is our connection with the inner most aspect of ourselves, where we meet the universal, our original being.

Now, with Uranus approaching exact square to the nodal axis, a collective jump-starting and totally unpredictable element will bring this fully into the present (with startling results!) – and the nodal axis itself, perpetually in retrograde motion is heading for the tropical boundary of Capricorn and Sagittarius. The field is being charged for the upcoming, the nodal alignment with the Galactic Center followed by Uranus repeatedly squaring Pluto….but, we have enough to be thinking about, so, more on this soon. A reminder though that the Sun and Moon are themselves exact on the cusps of Pisces and Virgo respectively at this Full Moon – a spiritual progression into virgin territory awaits us.

And within this is a seed of knowing, that the world is coming alive, re-enchanted……we are being gifted the opportunity of coming into alignment with the intrinsic consciousness of ‘matter’, the Divine Feminine……..a small and easily overlooked aspect pattern is also present at this Full Moon that gives great hope for this – Juno sextile asteroid Gaea form a yod with Mars. Our actions in the world could be a great leap forward for our inner balance and relationship with Earth…….for now, deep blessings and powerful dreaming be with us!
